EDIT: The previous answer has already been answered; the new question is now:
"
ow would you compress these titles for web domain name use?
'The Electric Catfish'
'The Evening Banquet'"

I wonder...
...which type of domain name would be better: one that is just like the site name or a compressed version? Case in point, if I have a site named "Locomotive Rationale," should the address be:
  • locomotiverationale.com
  • locorati.com
  • lc.com

I like the second one best.

By the way it would be so much easier if there was a poll.

Option 2- domain names are cheap to buy, maintain and redirect. Get a bunch- you probably will end up with a bunch anyway if your site takes off to catch typos and prevent squatters.

Other thoughts- in the days of bookmarks and hand typed addresses shorter might have been better. Nowadays most people search for things rather than using bookmarks.

There are a bunch of small URL services and if people have to hand type anything (the business card crowd or short form messaging) they are usually fairly amenable to using one of those services.

I thought about the poll, but I wanted to hear other's reasons in order to make a better decision.
(Then again, maybe I should have added the poll...)

By the way, these are not for companies, but for dedicated, stand-alone sites. Therefore, no one knows about the names. (Should I tell the names here?)

I think the second would be the best, because the first one is probably too long, and the third one is obviously taken. The second one is also fairly memorable, so that's also a plus.

The above addresses were just examples, but I thank you all, anyways.

Now, I got another question for everyone: how would you compress these titles for web domain name use?
"The Electric Catfish"
"The Evening Banquet"
