they need to make the camra video-record; then play-back in that soon-to-be unique video player

Yep, and with the old, ancient, crusty, moldy DSphat/lite we can watch all the DPG movies we can encode/download FOR FREE on a flashcart that will never have even the slightest possibility of ever being blocked by a firmware update.

Free is better than pay, any day, everyday. Now THAT'S the way, I will always say.

The DSi is the equivalent of a fair-weather-friend. You will ALL find this out soon enough.

Well...it could be good to watch movies and stuff through DSi... but I wonder about the battery's life. Can it a handle a simple 1 and a half hour movie for example...?

Also Rayder...It isn't a bad think to pay for something... you paid for your flashcard right...?
If we should pay for something we should pay something that deservers it...

Ahh, but that's just my point. The DSi does not deserve to be bought.

Respectfully, I disagree. However it's all based on potential. What I see the DSi doing is similar to the Wii, and catering more to the casual gamer and those who want to play retro games more than the latest new thing. I would be seriously surprised if within the next 6 months we don't see more DSi/Wii compatibility, and possibly even a merging of Virtual Console for both systems.

It would be nice to play say, Super Mario 3 on a Wii, then take it with you on a DSi later. Not that you can't already with flashcarts and emulators, but to the majority of non-homebrew/hacking people, that could be a major selling point.

Right now, however, if you want flashcarts and stable homebrew, the DS and DS lite is where it lies. The DSi is too new to truly know if flashcarts can be viable.

lol it's funny how people are impressed that the dsi might be able to do things that the dsl (w/flashkart) have been able to do for years.

Agreed. It would be much better quality and you could play much bigger sizes of videos as well with a flashcart.

when the dsi exploits come out the idea of running homebrew in 16mb of ram on a cpu 2x the speed is too nice to pass up. but this whole thing about needing a wii to transfer the vids is just crap. i hate when companies attempt to force me into a purchase. i'll just end up not getting either and buying a dingoo instead.
