You don't, or at least the analogy breaks down almost immediately.

Between focal points (where you point your eyes as it were has the potential to resolve far more detail than outside it), mental infill, scanning patterns, colour tweaks, what goes for low light conditions. Wind in defects and excesses (20/20 vision is standard but generally held to be minimum before corrective is necessary) in sight, and things you can do to trick them and it gets more complicated still.

According to scientist and photographer Dr. Roger Clark, the resolution of the human eye is 576 megapixels.
Can't wait for cameras on phones to get better than the human eye itself.

There are perks to having such things.

1) It allows you to crop an image down to what you want.
2) More detail allows easier fixing of items and manipulation of it.
3) It allows you to blow up the images to put them on a massive print out, banner or whatever else.

I sometimes use the magnification on the iPhone camera when fusing fiber ribbons. It’s a big help. I mean, my eye sight is pretty good, but those fibers are tiny. 900 or 250 microns. They are close!
