A lot of people here have 9.4 New 3DS's though. So it would be a major relief for most of us and hopefully before 2015 ends, we will see this come out
A lot of people actually do read GW site and chose not to update too. While I feel pity for those that accidentally updated(give it to a kid and he/she updated it), those that knowingly updated to 9.4 should know it won't be supported by GW anytime Soon™

Just a friendly advice: Sell your current one, and get a new one, or just get a replacement unit if you still can.

even if this was possible they wouldn't deliver for at least another 2 years so you might as well sell your console and get a <=9.2 one

i mean seriously they've yet to support 9.6 emunand and its been ages

Well my N3DS came with 9.4 on Launch Day, which is bizarre because I thought Nintendo only released 9.0 N3DS's on launch day

Is this just wishful thinking or do you have some reason to suspect?

What "exciting news happening soon"? Care to elaborate?
... I suspect Gateway will announce something this month or next month regarding 9.4 sysNAND support so we can finally use Gateway on the 9.4 N3DS's. Either way, exciting news happening soon.

I have done some research and saw Gateway needs a new ARM 9 and ARM 11 exploit to crack 9.4 for the 3DS/N3DS. So those of you who accidentally got a 9.4 N3DS, fear not. I suspect Gateway will announce something this month or next month regarding 9.4 sysNAND support so we can finally use Gateway on the 9.4 N3DS's. Either way, exciting news happening soon. Make sure NOT to update your firmware if you are on 9.4 already. If you have a Gateway, don't buy the Sky3DS yet. Be patient for a little bit

I done some research as well and an inside Nintendo employee told me they are going to release firmware 9.8 this month or next month

Why would that only apply to 9.4.0 ?
If you say they STILL need to find another ARM9/11 exploit, you could also say 9.6.0 support is incoming.

I wouldn't expect anything big from GW team anytime soon, some peeps are still waiting for proper OoT support for all the different versions.
And they yet have to deliver like 3-4 features they announced a few months ago.
They still owe us that surprise too

There's no logical reason for gateway to support 9.4 even if they could.

Well actually there is. 9.4 is becoming more common for new n3DSs being sold at stores. (though eventually we'll start seeing 9.5 consoles out in the wild if they aren't already). So there's still an advantage for them if they could find a way to exploit 9.4.

There won't be anything happen for a long time. There are enough vuln. 3DS' out in the wild.
They won't "burn" another exploit for such a small FW step. Expect another FW support sometime around FW v1x.x.x ... if even !
I somehow have the feeling that GW is trying to leave the scene, with there FW updates become smaller and yet take months to release.
It's only "burning" the exploit if it's not been patched yet. As far as I remember one of the KARL devs found an exploit in 9.4 (or was it the first 9.5? there were 2 9.5s) that has since been patched

There's no sense sitting on an exploit that's already gone

So last time Gateway had a working exploit, they made a brand new post on their site stating that no one should update past 9.2. So now that there is no working exploit you're making false assumptions that 9.4 will be soon exploited as well? Wake up man.

9.5 is already confirmed on some systems, the second (or third?) batch of MM N3DS has had 9.5 installed.

I'm probably updating anyway, because MEWTWO. Seriously, I know Gateway won't be coming out with support in 3 days.

yeah but if they find a new arm11 exploit, it might be better to keep it in the toolbox than waste it to add support for 2 minor revisions especially with the fixed n3ds encryption......its in their best interests to play it cool for the meantime and keep any new exploits underwraps

There's plenty of reason to support 9.4 if they find a way to. So they can sell product to people with 9.4.

Can you imagine someone saying there was no reason to support higher than 4.5? That's how ridiculous your statement is. Even the OP of this topic is more thought out than that.

(I am in no way saying they will ever be able to support 9.4 or not, just saying they absolutely have reason to try and find a way)

nobody is saying they wouldnt look to support over 9.2, but that the market for 9.3 and 9.4 is not worth them burning an exploit that would otherwise be viable to support future firmwares down the line all because there is a handful of people waiting.....im sure they probably had their 9.2 exploit ready to be deployed a long time before they released it......most likely from around the time they released 7.x rom decryption.....but see they timed it well and bagged n3ds support in one go, same with smealum and ninjhax, he had that for months and held back for the perfect time to release, i doubt gateway are as dumb as some people who are just like "OMG OMG OMG WOW IM L33T I FOUND HAX Nintendo", sometimes its better to keep quiet and build a much more substantial opening than limit yourself to a handful of 9.4 users, i wouldn't be surprised if they already have leads to work with for 9.3+, but again its always good to have some personal backdoor's that aren't just public

Look at the past threads - Gateway did say exactly that for many months. 9.2 consoles are readily available for anyone who wants them.

Yes, 9.4 has an unpatched arm9 exploit. But there's no way they'd burn an arm11 exploit just for that. 9.4 sysnand will get support when 9.6+ sysnand does.

And Note that Gateway didn't care about releasing 9.2 < support until Sky3DS appeared.

Actually, I think it was the advent of the ninjhax exploit which was also patched in v9.3 and used a similar exploit via web code. Since that vulnerability was opened to Nintendo's eyes they likely felt the need to move on releasing it. Sky3DS is competition, but does not use anywhere near the same kind of vulnerability as GW.
