Hacking WBFS, not corrupted but... disk error

1st i tell you i followed this thread :

but there are things that are not normal for me.


- i dont have problem to see list in my GX
- some game works flawlessly
- some freeze

i decided to check drive with WWT.

i had 178 errors disk / 180.

i followed all thread i put link above, now i got :

first some explanations of the errors you got

C:\resto>wwt check
found 709 sectors each belonging to two or more games
which is bad news

C:\resto>wwt verify
this command wanted either a drive or -a (autoselect) as a parameter

C:\resto>wwt verify -a
refused to verify from a drive already known to be bad (unless overridden)

all wwt results are consistent


asuming wwt is correct the wbfs is in fact corrupted
only not the "I formatted again" kind of corruption but the next common one
something caused sectors to be allocated multiple times thus overwriting parts of other games
the original wbfs lib eg had a bug which did this

as only 129 games are affected this would be consistent with your report of only some games working
wwt should be able to fix this by deleting the affected games
as you will have to rerip most of your games anyway, you might want to consider switching to FAT

check the wwt thread
there should be explanations about how to proceed

as i hate to use something i dont have full acces for correcting errors & see in deep what the hell is gooing on, i rebuild the wii hack with primary objective NTFS system files.

i wasted too much time on that wbfs, & all windows based partitions , files, recovery are useless on wbfs, so ....

worst is to rebuild list. i tried 5 random redump on another drive, no error found with wwt, no crash, no freeze.

wbfs on hitachi 2,5 drives definitivly sux lol

i the only bad thing is i wont be able to rip anymore from wii to drive since ntfs dont allow writing.

but the other hand, it secure all kind of error by forbidding writting on drive, so, 1-1 for the score..

i search a way to use wii as drive from wifi to pc, to read from wii to write iso ( or better, direclty .wbfs ) to computer drives. dvd dumper 1.3 can do the job it seems.

anyway, i know my drive containing the games is not damaged, it only dont like wbfs on it, that's all.
i'll return to ntfs

Another alternative is to use FAT32, which does allow to install games directly on the Wii.

ripping over wifi is possible but not exactly fast
sorry I dont know any specifics

considering your now empty(fresh formated) drive
if you want to rip many games and really use NTFS
it might be fastest to

1 format to FAT
2 rip all games
3 convert drive to NTFS retaining data (eg using windows "convert" app - see windows help - F1?)

Maybe have 2 partitions - 1 small fat partition, for example 10 or 20GB on which games can be installed and later transferred to ntfs...

Yes it should, you'll get 2 files: game.wbfs + game.wbf1

ok, end of all problems

- i totally deleted SD
- i reloaded nand to pre mods ( 3.4e )

i restarted from scratch with in mind what i wanted :

1) direct HDD injection of game from windows
2) injection of game via wii
3) total control of HDD
4) bypass DVD9 size problem
5) only essential Cios, no shit, no fancy support for thing i'll never use

i kept from the nand the boot mii in boot 2 mode & hbc 0.6

what i did :

HBC 0.7 updating
drive long formatting in fat 32
CiosX 20b base 57
CFG loader r57

IT ROX AS HELL !

- no more dump error ( seems slower, but better )
- CFG is a pure professionnal loader tool, fully working, he says what he does when doing something
- samurai warriors 3 iso on computer, & some more iso, i use wii converter gui 1.4
no problem, DVD 9 splited 2 files, control of content of wbfs file, only game partition
cfg ask too what we want... GX just tell nothing & tell us to go screw yourself by keeping silence on some disks i got, CFG speaks.
- huge amount of parameters, but well thinked organization.
- bye bye WWT barbarian ms-dos prompt
- bye bye wbfs manager ( mine never worked for clone HDD function, 3.0.1 anyway )
- fuck hermes crasher 222
- fuck crappy bug & unstability of GX with all those rev

no more shit, i'm less sad to look at my 500go & think damn, 2 times this week i full it
but this time ALL WORKS !!! hahaha !
