There are some 5.0-9.2 consoles upgraded by retail cart from 1.0-1.1.
There is no Internet Browser until firmware 2.0.0 so those 1.0-1.1 -> 5.0-9.2 consoles won't have any access to the exploit URL --- After upgraded firmware by retail cart, once the user enter the Browser, it will ask the user to update the firmware. But the update issue never happens on 2.0-4.5 -> 5.0-9.2 consoles.
So they're uncrackable & undowngradable.
Be aware of those machines.

It might be possible to fix by updating via .cia, but to do that you need a Gateway. My best guess is that you could upgrade using a cart like Animal Crossing to 4.5, then use the DS Profile exploit to launch GW mode, then install the .cia to update the browser.

Yeah but he was talking about 5.0-9.2 consoles though.

well if the mii maker exploit does exist they should at least release it so it can be used so people with no browser could at least install the browser via cia, then remove the mii exploit so it doesn't break game compatibility

They would be more likely to respond the same as they did when it was 4.x only - "There are plenty of exploitable consoles available, just buy one of those".

  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
also gonna install twilight menu in my r4 flashcard
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
One thing that just occurred to me.... The sound on the 2600 sucked less back then the harsh sound we hear now is from infinitely better speakers we have now, back when the 2600 was new speakers produced a almost muffled sound, like CRTs made old graphics look slightly better.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I wonder if I could recommend that to some emulation devs that perhaps the sound could use some smoothing out to simulate those old TVs
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think a few of the early systems could benefit from that, at least up to the 8 bit generation, by the 16 bit generation I think TVs had gotten a lot better in almost every way

    For your R4
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
It's old but it's the best firmware out for DS stuff
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
it says it only works for the original R4, R4i Gold (r4ids.cn), R4iDSN (r4idsn.com) and Acekard R.P.G.
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
    nvm it does support mine
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:

  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:

  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:

  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Just give it a try, but honestly if you have a 3DS you can play DS games without a card just off the internal SD card
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Slightly slower loading but a bit more convenient
