Hacking WARNING: Buying legit Hori sreen protectors

I just ordered two $1.50 Hori protectors from DX yesterday. Shoulda read this thread first! Some people say that the fakes are terrible quality, and some people say they're on par with the real ones. I'm just gonna wait for them to arrive and apply'em and see how they feel - it's only $1.50 ea.

If you get fake ones for psp I wouldn't really see the problem cos you don't touch it...actually if you had a psp why would you even need a screen protector?

Fakes are crap. Still don't know if mine is fake. It's a nightmare to take off...it's impossible...

Ebay one is fake indeed, the instruction stickers on the screen protectors are used on many non branded screen protectors exact the same stickers

It's almost impossible to get bubbles with the fake Hori as well.

They are pretty good but mine got some very light scratched after a few months.

The fact that mine didn't come with a cloth and got bubbles the second time I put it on are starting to make me think that mine are fake, but the bubbles could be caused by the amount of dust I had on the screen the second time I put it on...
Oh yes and it got a lot of light sratches too :\

I got a pack of 5 Hori cases from ebay and they were all cheap and fake, they work fine for me, so i dont really mind..

Ugh, bought two from eBay and after a week - already a rough patch on screen after some rough playing. Is this normal?

ive got some scratches on the fake ones but i had a genuine pair and they also got scratches and i had to replace them.. I find that the fake ones go on the screens really easily but the genuine ones are harder to get on.. I have a Blue DS Phat and sometimes i can only get the DS Lite screen protectors but they do the same job, although top screen on DS phat is bigger than that of on the DS lites..

I also bought a pair of genuine DS screen protectors from EB Games, asked for the DS phat screen ones, bought them, took them home and opened it up to find that they were DS lite ones.. Took them back, asked for DS phat ones and they said they were the same, so i tried them on my DS on they turned out to be a bit smaller for the top screen.. So i couldnt take them back after i used them, so i thought that they had conned me into getting them..

Anyway, back on topic... The fake ones may not be as long lasting as the genuine ones but do the same job.. I think that if they're cheap on Ebay, they're bound to be fake, if they're around 12 bucks a pair, (Aussie Dollar) They're genuine.. This may not always be the case.. Most sellers that sell genuine pairs will usually say They're Genuine, but on the fake ones they dont.. Although this may not always be the case because the fake sellers will lie to sell their products..

Usually, and Im not being racist here, the fake Hori screen protectors will come from Hong-Kong, and have a low Buy it Now price on it.. They will also usually sell them in sets of around 5-10 and will not say that their products are genuine.. This may not be true to some of you GBATempers but, Im sad to say this, it is..

I applied the fake ones from DealExtreme on three NDSs, and had almost no problems..I have one bubble on one NDS, and one bubble-wannabe on other (something that looked like bubble in first, but I've managed to stick it almost invisible)..And the third one turned out perfectly, you really can't say that any protection is on it..

I'm very pleased with the quality and I believe that 5 fakes should last longer than 1 Genuie, and it turns out at the same price, but I could be wrong..

Do you guys think it's worth buying a screen protecter? I mean...I remember buying one and it was annoying b/c I couldn't stop the bubbles from appearing on my DS. Does the legit one really make it look bubbleless?

It's really helpfull, and YES, having a screen protector (especially on touch screen) is a crucial!!

Be sure to get one, and apply it properly..

I bought one of each and the fake one I have has both the Japanese stickers and the English tabs. The cloth is white, slightly rough and smaller than the yellow one from the genuine package. The genuine is still on my Lite but it's beginning to wear. I still find it funny how the DealExtreme reviews regarding the fake one are as positive, if not more so, than the genuine one. Placebo effect maybe? Or does DealExtreme edit the reviews warning buyers that it's a clone?

I got one from leetmod. After applying it (using the guides tips) with no bubbles I tested the feeling of it with my stylus and it got scratched instantly. That really bummed me out. So I guess it was one of them fakes.

ahh man.. i think i bought a fake.
the outside looks legit, the cloth too. but the screen protector had blue protective layers that you had to peel off..
