Didn't YWG say he might add support for some cards if someone requested it?
I believe it has to be team behind those cards who needs to request it
Correct.
The TEAM behind the card must request it and work with YWG to do so.
I believe this means sending a sample card and access to code/information so that YWG doesn't have to 'hack' it.

is there no other way to get them updated then as wood doesnt work on them?

Try to contact the manufacturers of your cards and attempt to convince them to persuade the ywg to make firmware for them.

This strategy will almost certainly end in heartache for you so I wood* just suggest buying a wood compatible card instead.

*lol
