My problem : I have a video game club my girlfriend sets up for some of her 7th grade students. We used to hook them up directly and play system link, but it doesn't work now because one of the 360's got updated for use with newer games. The dashboard's are pretty different, which I'll list in a moment. Now, one of them is hacked. It will get banned if I logon to live, I know that for sure although I can't remember why (my memory is pretty shitty sometimes). The other one is a little older and I imagine still hackable by flashing the DVD drive. I also have a banned xbox around here somewhere, I think, but I still haven't found it despite having done some non-spring Spring cleaning around here. I hacked the original 360's myself years back with Jungleflasher. I have the SATA pc to DVD drive connector, the little metal probe, some free time though not a lot of spare money. I have a back-upped L4D and a real copy of L4D.

I know this is a pretty big question but there are some steps I could take to hack one or update another and then I can't really step back.

My question : is there any feasible way to get the two xbox's in a similar enough dashboard without banning one? Even if one or both did get banned, can I still have the one that WILL be banned playing with one that's not? Is there any way to manually configure the dashboard on either of them? Should I attempt to find the MYSTICAL... well not too mystical banned 360?

Spec's :

Unhacked 360:
Model : Falcon V2 Aug 2008
Dash : Metro , 16547
Drive : Lite-on

Hacked:
Model : Xenon Oct 2006
Dash : Kinect, 12625
Drive : Samsung

Also on the table :
A hacked but banned unknown that was built somewhere between the two. I know it was between the two because when we got the unhacked Falcon from a friend I thought it looked cheap and new.
It was banned somewhere around the NXE era, I believe.
I know it's not a liteon.

You can update the unhacked to the latest dash by downloading the update from the MS site and using a USB drive to update it.
The Hacked one, follow this tutorial.

It is possible to syslink them all, if you got the correct TU installed (check Xbox Unity for the TU)

Okay, I checked your guide. You're kind of the wizard around here, lol.
One slight concern... Perhaps I used the wrong terminology because my old Xenon 360 is just dvd drive flashed, not JTAG'd or RGH'd. I didn't see a category for that in your JRunner guide. Or perhaps it needs that sort of update because of its potential ban? I'm not sure which category to select on the XeBuild hack options, then. Many thanks for your assistance.

Humm, you can update it to the latest.
Iirc, Sammy drives don't support XGD3 checks etc so they don't need to be reflashed.
What I do recommend is updating the hacked DVD firmware.

the L hdmi adapters work great on my tv and receiver. so much less stress on the ports using them than regular cables. in that instance anyway.

  • RedColoredStars @ RedColoredStars:
i dont know why tv manufactures put the hdmi ports in dumb locations so the cables have to stick out, and then down, putting strain on the ports. Instead of having the ports along the bottom edge of the tv facing downwards.
