Hacking Waninkoko's "Firmware Updater 4.0"

I heard there were issues with emulators when you update to 4.0 officially.. can anyone confirm they work with this updater?

Wad Installer? (also after installing wads, can they be run from SDHC?)

Okay... You had me worried. I can definitively confirm that "FCE Ultra GX" (NES) and "Snes9X GX" ARE WORKING as they should! =)

While I was at it, I also tested WADManager v1.3. It WORKED perfectly!!

Since your signature says you're using a WiiKey, wouldn't that still allow you to boot backups from the Disc Channel??

i thought trucha-signed discs don't run anymore, do they?

yeah, but normal backups will... if you want to run trucha signed disks (custom guitar hero's - any kind of edited game iso) , just run them through gecko OS

I've got many trucha-signed discs, not for Guitar Hero crap but i had to patch many NTSC games to run on my PAL Wii through discchannel

Okay, okay. Sorry if I'm being lame or anything, but I need to know if this will work or not.

My Wii's currently got v3.4U firmware on it. I've got the HBC installed, it was installed before I upgraded to 3.4 awhile ago. The Wii itself is squeaky clean apart from that.. No cIOS or hacks or anything in recent memory. Just 3.4, and HBC, as far as I know.

So, what if I were to use the October 23rd Wii Fix (hereee) to be able to install WADs, and after that, use Waninkoko's Firmware Updater 4.0? Will the Oct 23 thingy take care of any IOS tweaking I need to do to be able use Waninkoko's updater??

Just installed waninko's upgrade 4.0 and....

there is no preloader
i can't run backup disks through the disc channel !! It asks me to update WTF ?!?

Is there a way to fix this ? Or if not.... is it safe to downgrade to 3.2 using softmii.

Btw before the installation my system menu was 3.2 with softmii patch.

Oh, FFS! Do you know how to read? Seriously, do you? This has been discussed ad nauseam. No you cannot load "backups" from the disk channel ala preloader with SM4, just as you couldn't under SM3.4, which is why you had to downgrade to 3.2. Period, end of story. Preloader and Starfall changed the System Menu. Because SM4 is a wholly new System Menu, that overwrites the previous version preloader will not work. It's that frakking simple.

Plus, some people could never load backups from the Disc Channel anyway, therefore, I see this firmware update being 10x epic.

After you update to 4.0, look for an app called Startpatch. Add it to your "apps" folder (in your sd card) and this will allow you to block these constant updates from discs.

I updated my wii by waninkoko 4.0 update

and i did not instal the IOS60 update or some thing...

When i go to the setings there is a page saying that it cant load that page (like a web page)
What should i do?????

Currently my brick prevention is done by starfall, which is outdated I heard. Should I install Bootmii, do a NAND back up, then follow the directions with waninkoko's upgrader ? Is the current bootmii compatible with 3.2U?

I think Bootmiis compatibility is more relevant to the Wii itself. I've read that it relies on a boot vulnerability which apparently was closed in models produced after mid 2008(ish)

Hello all,

Well i did install update 4.0E with Waninkoko tool and IOS60 as told in Ultimate 4 system thread from GBATemp.

I have no trouble at all (7 wii)

I have Wiikey2 so i may play backup from disk channel like usual.
Also you may transfer channel (game wads) to SDHC to get more room in your wii with System 4
Using SDHC is the main feature of system 4 for me.

I am under revision 12 as rev 13a/b are not clear yet an use usb loader GX

the hbc.
Worked fine. Before I had 3.3E and now 4.0E is shown.

- Unless: The HBC won't open any more. No error shown.
