Just a question though. Is there any guides on like owning a jtagged xbox? Do I have to update it?

I'll post pictures on here of it cause I want to know what people think, and if it's good or not.

it has.

xbox has White LEDs, 20 GB HDD. Cool Runner Installed fan. Cod 4 patches. Cod 4 Full game installed Full Mw2 Installed, patches, cords and a controller.

good deal? I'm trading my ps3 for it.

Game discs will carry increasingly newer updates as time goes on although for most the trouble there comes with those using flashed DVD drives. Eventually though games do want to see a newer dashboard (you can attempt to put it off but it gets annoying) but as those updates are usually made a couple of days after the actual updates it is not a big thing.
Updating, assuming there has not be new wiring method you want to use, amounts to running a few commands (graphical frontends available) to build a new NAND image using the relevant data for your 360, sticking the image on a USB drive and running the update program.

good deal.... 20 gig drive sets off bells for me but that can be anything really. What you will want to look out for is the type of motherboard as these days I would not accept anything less than a Jasper for a JTAG board (earlier stuff is too unreliable in terms of the actual board dying for my liking). Your mate will probably know what type of board it is as you need to know it to build the updates. In a pinch I might accept a late Falcon (coolers are a bonus there) but realistically for me it is Jasper or wait.

You can use 360 multi builder to build your hacked NANDs

MAKE SURE you know what board you have.
Xenon,Zephyr (203w) Xenon is non HDMI and Zephyr is HDMI.
Falcon,Opus (175w) Falcon is HDMI and Opus is non HDMI.
Jasper,Kronos (150w) both are identical.

To enable Avatar stuff, download the update from the MS site (xbox.com) and extract the update.
Rename the folder from the update to $$ystemupdate and plonk it on the root of your USB.
Then boot the 360 and let the update run.

Word of advice.
Keep your fans ATLEAST at 70% for Falcons.
Xenons/Zephyrs I'd say 80-85-90%

You can set this in the NAND with 360 flashdump tool or set it in FSD.

Could be a Xenon board that's been sold for 300.
Could also been a Jasper that's been sold for 300.

I know that some people on ebay sold jTAGs for 1000.
They even tried to sell off RRoD machines for 100 quid.

Well.....
If he spend 300 on it then he got ripped off.

And a reflowed Xenon......
I think it won't last another month.

Basically it has gone RRoD due to a cold solderjoint.
Then heated up again that the solder would melt again.

This technique can prolong the life of an 360 by a month or so at max.
But RRoD is inevitable.

My honest opinion is not taking it.
You're better off with another 360.

I was just wondering what that means. It hasn't been. I just saw a google result on it.

It's the first Xbox 360 ever to come out. A reflow means that it has once gotten the RRoD and then repaired by a person by heating up the Xbox with a heatgun. It will break soon, and I advise you not to trade your PS3 for it. If you must get it, sell the PS3 for a decent amount and either buy his for a reasonable price considering the condition, accessories, etc or find someone selling a (Falcon, maybe.) Jasper, or Slim Xbox 360.

Even so. The fact it's a Xenon means it might not last long. The other thing is the lack of an HDMI output, which you've already discovered.

Your call.

Don't take offense.
I hope it'll RRoD quickly.

I hope you can get a better deal since a Xenon is a real hothead.

However if it does run stable then do some extra cooling to it.

You can cut away the metal mesh on the exhaust fans.
Mod a fan below the DVD drive in the casing.
Yank up the fanspeed in the NAND to 100%

Then it's a matter of waiting and praying that it'll hold.

Wait...

Xenons are harder to glitch then Zephyrs.
Your console is non HDMI.

You might have an Opus here.
Erm.
When you get it, check the powersocket on the 360.

If it matches the middle one then consider yourself lucky.
HOWEVER.
I still suggest yanking the fans up to keep it cool ;]

Xenons and Zephyrs generate a lot more heat then Falcons and above.

The higher the wattage the hotter the console.
The first gens are on a 90nm process
Jaspers are on 45nm iirc.

So they generate way less heat.
