Anyone tried to go directly from a vob to dpg? Supposedly batchdpg can do it but mine just whizzes past and leaves me with a 10.2KB file of nothing. I can get batchdpg to process other video files. The vob is just a rip of 1 episode from an episodic dvd via dvddecypter and is just stereo audio. I could convert the video over to another format first but that seems like it should be a completely unnecessary step. The vob plays fine in powerdvd too.

Does the VOB play in WMP? If not, it's not gong to run in BatchDPG until you get proper codecs.

Hmmm you know I never checked, good idea. when I try to play it in wmp 9 I get a cannot find the specified file error even though the file is local... I thought installed something like powerdvd also dropped codecs in the appropriate places for directplay use? Either way I also installed vlc just to see and got nothing, although the file plays fine in vlc too.

Anyway is there a free mpg2 codec I should install? Reinstall powerdvd?

It does play in mplayer2/wmp6 though...
