    Hi,

I have three games which in fact are 'scene' releases on which VitaOrganizer says that they are !UNSAFE!

I don't know exactly what that means but it gives me the option to 'repack :......+make it safe'
Is that a wise action or should I leave them unsafe? (one of them is the Unit_13_WORKING_READNFO_MULTI4_PSV-VENOM version of Unit 13).

Does that action break the game? or does the unsafe games break my vita?
Of course I can try it but perhaps wise words will point me in the right direction :-)

Seeing how I can't find any info on "PSV-VENOM" on any legitimate looking site, I would say all these "Scene" releases you downloaded are either malicious or fake.

I don't think there are even such things as "scene" releases for VPK games at this point, all games available are simply dumped by end-users.

I cant speak for vitaorganiser as I've never used it, but it's checks will be similar to those in vitashell.

Traditionally a 'safe' vpk was one that contained an eboot with offset 0x80 set to '02 00 00 00 00 00 00 2F'. Henkaku will run the eboot with limited permissions.
    https://www.reddit.com/r/vitahacks/comments/5h3so4/taihenkaku_beta_7_released/daxin8l/

Any dumped official game will contain either a mai.suprx (mai dump) or steroid.suprx (vitamin dump) plugin, required to make it run.
Some of the (very few) malicious game releases had the harmful payload not in the eboot but in the mai.suprx plugin.
Since then newer versions of vitashell will warn you that any VPK containing a mai.suprx/steroid.suprx could be malicious, so any dumped game in a vpk will give the 'extended permissions' warning when installed: https://img.fireden.net/vg/image/1472/38/1472387174116.jpg

TheFlow also added an additional check for if a vpk contains code that is attempting to remount partitons, which is what the known malicious releases did (re-mounted partitions and wiped them). If you get this message when installing a VPK DO NOT PROCEED:
    https://twitter.com/theflow0/status/791707777672642560

There is no way to be 100% sure a game dump is not malicious. If you wanted to be as sure as possible then ensure the eboot is set to safe and replace the .\sce_module\steroid.suprx or .\sce_module\mai.suprx with the same file from another game dumped with the same version of vitamin/mai that you know to be safe (the hash seems to be the same as long as the game was dumped with the same version of the app from my quick checks).
If you cant be bothered just download from sources you trust and wait a while to see if any other people start screaming that their vita is dead before you try it. It's a small risk but it does exist, it's part of being able to run unofficial code.

Venom has released quite a few, 'scene' releases for vita seem to be a vpk packed from a mai dump or some files from mai some from vitamin, its quite odd.

There was talk of the power of (tai)henkaku allowing games to run without patching/plugins, which would allow them to always be run with limited permissions (no reason for a game to need power to harm system files), but since mai dumps 'work' for the most part there doesn't seem to have been much work in that direction from scene groups. Someone in PSi had a decent rant about this in a release nfo for uncharted: https://www.psxhax.com/threads/oh-my-lanta-ps-vita-scene-groups-psico-trsi-on-game-dumps.766/

What I mean is, I don't find the dumps on any legitimate site. I've checked all the "major" warez sites and I couldn't find any link to any scene release for any Vita game that wasn't a Blackfin Cobra version. When I try searching for the release title on google, all I get are obvious fake Chinese sites.
