I assume this is the right thread so let's introduce my problem, recently i bought a 100-Spindle pack of Verbatim DVD+R's for my Wii, i got these been as the Sony DVD+Rs worked great, i thought these must do aswell, apparently i was wrong. I'v been on Rev 10 for a while and i burnt a game on my shiny new DVD+R's, ran NeoGamma R7 and tried loading the game, i get the error "DVD Read Error 1101" So i thought, ok, fair enough, time to update my cIOS, so after upgrading to Rev 14, i tried again, same error, i thought maybe it was NeoGamma, i downgraded to R6 and still, same error. So i thought, ah, bad burn. Wentn and burned the same game again at 4x speed and another one to be safe. Tried them both, same error. I'm guessing it's my disks but i just want to make sure first, you can probably tell i'm pretty bummed, buying a 100-Pack and all. But i'll give these other uses anyway. So, has anyone else had problems with Verbatim +R's?

it could a number of things, lukey boy:
    1. Your unit hates Verbatim
    2. Your image burning app may be outdated/useless
    2. Could be a glitch.
    3. DVD drive needs a lens cleaning.
    4. those are donuts.
    5. It's all my doing; It's part of my ebil schemes to annoy people. >:}

personally, I stay away from ANY +R's.......... I know, many people out there swear by them, that they have no problems with em, but with me, its hit or miss, depending on the BRAND....
So, just to level the playing field, with no problems, I just burn everything on -R's, NEVER a bad burn, disc error, etc....

Make sure you have the BookType still set to DVD-ROM when you are burning.

Also check you have the latest firmware for your burner. Firmware updates usually include media compatibility fixes.

ImgBurn (and many other programs) change burn settings according to the manufacturing info reported by the disk. You may need to fiddle with some of the settings.

Lastly, have you tried a different ISO? you may have a bad ISO.

If you actually took the time to read my post, you would know that IMGBurn is the latest, and i have tried different ISOs, and yes, the booktype is set to DVD-ROM as it always is.

Well, I actually use them for my Wii and I haven't ever had a problem with them... Strange.

Maybe you got a spindle of fake Verbatims? Happened to me with some Memorex DL. They were so sucky every burn would fail [IMG]

Bad ISO, maybe? Try to get another one.

None of that was mentioned in your original post, so quit with the attitude. So I missed it in one of your later replies... whoopieee

Again I stress to check the firmware of your drive. It is the most important thing you can do to improve your drive's compatibility with different media.
One way to check the firmware version is to go to the Drive menu in ImgBurn and choose 'Check for firmware updates'.
The best way though is to go to your drive manufacturer's web site.

Also the only way to know for sure who made your disks is to look at the manufacturer id listed on the right side of ImgBurn when you insert a blank disk.
Verbatim disks should have a manufacturer listed as MCCxx (where xx is usually 03 or 04). Occasionally they use Tayo Yuden to make DVDs for them and those will start with TY.

If your thumb drive is formatted as FAT32 it only supports files up to 2Gb.
You need to use NTFS for larger files.

Well, as far as I know, all the Wii homebrew can only understand FAT(16/32), so you would not be able to use the thumbdrive on the Wii while it is formatted as NTFS.

Here is a website that has a comparison of NTSC and FAT
    http://www.ntfs.com/ntfs_vs_fat.htm

Looks like I was mistaken about the 2Gb limit on FAT32. Seems it is a 4Gb limit, according to that table.

Modchip, myself. And rev9 installed. But I've softmodded a Wii recently with rev14 and used my Verbatims on it successfully using NeoGamma.

Oh, I forgot to say that I burn my Verbatims +R at 20x [IMG]

Also, are you using imgburn? It's the best burning program out there, and free, at it!
Always used that and never got a coaster. Try with that [IMG]
