is this the version originally released in the us? or the one japan has.
The US one.
The Japan one was for the NES.
for people that do now know
US version of III for the SNES is the same as JP version of VI
Finally! Best RPG ever created... on my TV... without the need for my Super Nintendo.... Played without the bugs of Homebrew SNES Emulators. This made my day Nintendo! Thanks.
This, hands down is the best version of the game in terms of graphics/sound, this is also known as FF6 to FF nerds.
FF6 is hands down one of the best video games of all time, if you have never played it, I would highly suggest doing so.
I personally think the music from the GBA remake is better.
Is that a 1:1 version of the SNES one? The one with the bad translation?
(And no, it's not known as FF6 to "FF nerds", it's it's official name for god's sake.)
No, but is is known as FF6 to those who know what they're talking about.
I wouldn't say that you're a FF nerd just because you know what you're talking about.
i never understood why they named the US version III yet this is clearly VI. what the fuck were they smoking at the time that means FF IV should be VII but it's not
3-5 never came to america untill recently
No, you mean 2, 3, and 5. 4 came out as Final Fantasy 2
why didn't they call it VI than is the usa?
Same reason FF IV is FF II (USA). They didn't want the public to know that II and III were skipped. Same with VI, since V was skipped. When VII came out, they decided to screw that and now have doomed civilization to Final Fantasy confusion.
Because at the time of it's original release it was the third Final Fantasy game to have come out in the US. Later it was released on the PSX as Final Fantasy VI, packaged with Final Fantasy V. What's weird, however, is that Final Fantasy VII was called Final Fantasy VII, though it was released in the US right after Final Fantasy III/VI.
EDIT:...Wow...Sir VG just completely ninja'd me...
i'm leaving b4 my head explodes
It's really not as confusing as it sounds, put simply:
Final Fantasy 2, 3, and 5 were not released in the US.
Final Fantasy 1, 4, and 6 were.
Because of this, they just changed the numbers of the games.
??? Ya what? One of the main reasons I never finished the GBA version was because of the comparatively poor music.... at least the quality: the GBA itself was complete rubbish for music (Minish Cap had wonderful music but that was the only stand out) No, have to disagree on that one! The GBA version was a better translation though I'll admit...
Best RPG ever by the way! I remember paying £80 for it when it first came out on the SNES (import only for us UKers), and have played through it more than once! Hell, I even used to rename Terra to Tina, Locke to Lock and all that back when I was hammering it.... yep, 'FF nerd' (or should I say FF3/6 nerd! )
Does anyone have a shotgun? My friend got me a SNES copy of this game a week ago for $80 so I'd still have a copy when I returned the one I borrowed.
I guess it depends on what you're used to. For us that have played the original SNES game, the GBA's "inferior" rendering of the soundtrack will probably be annoying. (There's actually a patch out now that "fixes" the music of the GBA version!). However, I do NOT agree that GBA games in general had bad music. The Metroid games had awesome soundtracks, and so did Final Fantasy Tactics....
