Shame I've been spoiled by the Eternal versions.
Still, anyone who's never played an Ys really should try it out, if only for the rockin' music.

    This is bizarre...

The Europe version dumped in only a few days. Yet the US one still doesn't have a scene release, taken so long even I attempted to dump it (PM for details).

The most memorable part of the Ys series has always been the music.
But it plays like a fast-paced action game with a few puzzles here and there and bits of platforming on occassion.
The first two games you just run into enemies to attack them (The strategy here is run into them diagonally.)
From pretty much 3 and up there's a seperate attack button.

The modern ones (Remake of 3, 6, and Origin) are in full 3D, play really well and the music gets you pumped up.

It's a real shame most of the games don't have a proper localization, but I think 6 was localized for the PS2 and PSP...albeit, with 3D models replacing the original 2D sprites.

I don't think 6 has been remade yet, just ported. But I could be very wrong...

I'm certainly not asking where to get the game, but how would one run VC games that aren't downloaded directly through the Nintendo store? Can someone give me a link to the proper thread?

US version still doesn't have a scene release, even though it's been on VC for two weeks now.

The Europe version does. Don't know about Japan...
