Is there any kind of support for compression with this emulator in GAMECUBE or is only Wii supported? Seems that zipped and 7z GB and GBC work but not GBA.

It's not supported and it's never going to happen. The reason is you can't fit the whole ROM into memory on the GameCube - so you can't just uncompress it and store it somewhere.
