Has anyone tried using VBA, or any other emulator for that matter, with Windows Vista? I just tried and VBA loads up fine, but when I try to load a game, my display freaks out. VBA doesn't crash or anything, but it just stays a white screen.

Anybody else had a similar experience, or maybe got it to work somehow?

Managing to avoid vista here but try messing with the video options under options -> video -> render method.

Does Vista have compatibility modes for runnning old software so the computer pretends to be like Windows XP when running it? (right-click the .exe, properties, on the compatibility tab )

Works fine for me. Using Home Premium.

I don't understant why people keep flaming Vista all the time. I can even play Fallout on Vista without any modifications.

Vista is outperforming XP with DX10 cards at high resolutions, so suck on that, haters

I must have been using a bad rom, because the game I was trying (Pokemon Emerald) never worked and always whitescreened. All of the other games I tried worked fine though, even without any compatibility modes. I guess I should have tried more roms before I complained that it didn't work :'( .

And on the subject of Vista's sucking or not sucking, this is really the only problem I've had (I'm using Vista Business). The only annoying thing was the User Account Control, which treated you like a retard, so I just turned it off. Actually, I've considered putting XP back on, but my wife says Vista looks pretty, which it does, so I haven't messed with it. World of Warcraft works, so I guess I can't complain. [IMG]

When yo run something that requires a battery save, like the Pokemon games, Vista always reverts to Vista Basic for some reason. When I tried using other roms it didn't. I too was trying Pokemon Emerald. Pokemon Emerald works, Options>Emulator>Save Type>Flash 128k. That should let you start playing Emerald.
Vista for me has been alright, came with my new laptop, so I'm not going to complain, but if I had to buy Vista, it isn't worth getting it if you already have XP.

Vista is okay for me... Is VBA the only emulator that can play all games by the way?
