Valve buys out Firewatch development team Campo Santo

IMG_7619.PNG

Campo Santo is an independent game studio, that formed in 2013, and developed the 2016 game Firewatch. Not too long after announcing a Nintendo Switch port for their game, the company put out a press release, announcing something unexpected. Valve would be acquiring the company, including all twelve of their staff. They'll now be working for Valve, although the team will still be free to work on their upcoming game In the Valley of the Gods, which was revealed back in January. Campo Santo states that Valve will be letting them work on their own projects, while supporting them and helping them fund their games.

In Valve we found a group of folks who, to their core, feel the same way about the work that they do (this, you may be surprised to learn, doesn’t happen every day). In us, they found a group with unique experience and valuable, diverse perspectives. It quickly became an obvious match.

Well shoot, what did this company do?
https://wccftech.com/firewatch-negative-reviews-pewdiepie/

tl;dr ver
Pewdiepie said the n word on a pubg stream
Sjw dev for firewatch went nuts and went full sjw mode and issued dmca take downs of pewdiepies lets play of the games and said for other devs to do the same (bascially abusing the dmca)
Pewdiepie fans and other anti-sjw people then reviewed bombed the game on steam pouring in a ton of negative reviews

I'm sure valve is already in the process of converting a confrence room into a safe space for these devs

I sure hope not. Safe spaces as a concept are toxic.

Sorry... i don't see it. Campo santo is a decent midsize team, but why is valve interested in them? Neither firewatch nor in the valley of Gods really gels with the games valve is known for. Why does valve want these guys?

Am I the only one who doesn't want Half-Life 3? I just can't see the appeal in it.
Finishing the story, all I want is closure. I would honestly accept a comic or a web series at this point, I just want to see the story finished already.

The only author of the HL1 and HL2 story and main author of HL2: E1 and HL2: E2 stopped working for Valve and published the story of the final (a never made Episode 3) a couple of months ago. You find it here in text form :) (I'm serious about it. Behind that link you find the story of Episode 3 as it was planned, just with slightly altered names)

I'll give it a read when I get off work, thank you!
