I haven't played the first one either since I don't have a PS3, but I did play a lot of the japanese version of Valkyria Chronicles II, and it's great.
I just finished the demo and it has superb voice acting, oh and there are no problems with CFW provided you decrypt it or have Prometheus installed.

EDIT: As expected, an error along the way occurred. When I try to access the Demo from the store, I get "An error has occurred. (80551001)"

I don't think it's a problem with the connection; I can get in the store just fine and play infrastructure with my PSNLover plugin.

For some reason, I can still download the demo despite the error... will download and post back!

that was a shitty demo, you only get to play one mission...

looks like a fun game though.
