Hey hey people,

I feel like I'm super close to figuring this out, but it just doesn't work for some reason.
"It" being, disabling the Skell Music in Xenoblade Chronicles X, and with the remaster on the horizon I decided I should put in another 125 hours, this time enjoying the area themes.

Anyway, I have my Wii U modded with Aroma, and I installed SDCafiine. I used this guide I found from here and that's all working. (His Batman mods were in .bin format from what I can tell though.) I can access it in the Aroma menu, and I can view the "Modpack" when the game launches. I can select it. As far as I know, that's all working as intended.
...wiiu\sdcafiine\00050000101C4D00\MusicSkellFlightDisabled\content\patch_music_flight.asm
(Is the rules.txt useful here, by the way?)

But then I get in the game, and the flight music still plays. Am I missing something? Is what I'm doing not possible at the moment? Do I have to not worry about the future, it's all right, for another 125 hours?

Any help is appreciated!

SDCafiine lets you load replacement files instead of the corresponding original file. So it is expected that the mod you are trying to apply will not work with it.
It seems that .asm files contain a list of the edits needed to the file (a bit like xdelta?). So you would need to manually do the patching step to the music file (how??), and use that patched .adx file with SDCafiine.
Or you could make your own music mod, presumably by creating a silent track of equal or shorter length. Or ideally for me, the same song, but with some seconds of silence at the beginning so I don't hear the start of the song when making small jumps.

I see you've experienced this as well haha. I agree the small jumps are the worse.
I did see that tutorial about patching BotW on Game Banana, but I mean. I'm not sure if I want to go through all that honestly. I might be better off just playing the rest of it on Cemu instead, even if generally I try to play on original hardware if I can.
Your silent track idea is interesting, but I think it would also be distracting to hear Noctilum's music just fade out for "no reason" every jump.

Thanks for you help!

I'm pretty sure this has been researched by smarter cats than me, and there isn't a way of avoiding the region's music cutting out, whatever song you replace it with.

Solution: replace Don't Worry with the Noctilum BGM. The tracks already don't loop elegantly.

Heh, that's funny. I didn't even notice that while playing.
I think the easiest solution for me is to just use Cemu, since I'll just need to import my save file then check a box to use the mod I was talking about originally, and there's my ideal Xenoblade Chronicles X experience (minus the GamePad). Maybe I'll upscale it too just for fun, but the grass pop-in really distracts me in the Wii game when upscaling.

Maybe if I wait though MayFlash will release an adapter that allows realtime video streaming from my PC to the Gamepad.

Streaming my emulated Wii U to a real Wii U to play a Wii U game just to disable flight music but still use the GamePad. You've really opened up my brain to the possibilities of the Wii U. Why did Nintendo release the Switch anyway?
I've gotta say emcintosh, you are a pretty smart cat. I might have to try this.
