I do it and works normal

But I recommend you to buy an Case to transform your HDD in an external HDD because it needs power suply and this cable don't do this

A case would be much better. Less chance of HDD fail because less dust will affect the HDD.

It most certainly will work. Think of that as an external hard drive, essentially it's doing the same thing, just not as neatly.

I would prefer a system with an enclosure, as it is neater, less risk of damaging the unit etc.

Exactly
and without a Case if your HDD fall it will suffer less damage...

The only problem I've seen but I think the problem is my case is the transfer rate, using it to store videos and see it in WiiMC sometimes cause bufferings
But emulated games(even PSx games) works normal
