Gaming Using .cht files with IPS patcher

Can you use an IPS patcher to apply .cht files to ROMS?

You can not: cheat files are normally gameshark codes which edit ram (making the game think you have infinite lives/bullets/monkeys) while IPS files edit the rom (to do anything but with gamegenie codes (very rare) it can make the game not do anything to your lives/bullets/monkeys).
