ROM Hack Using both AGB_signature patcher and Gateway card

So I have a Gateway card and use devmenu to install CIA's and whatnot, and I'd also like the option to play GBA games via the new AGB patch release and PastaCFW. Is it possible, and if so, how do I do it? Thanks in advance.

In Gateway mode, it isn't possible right now.

Use RX tool with signature patch. It will boot your GW emunand without need of the GW card.

RX and gateway perfectly can co-excist with each other without conflicts.

Can you give me some step by step instructions? Also, I read elsewhere about just using a separate SD card to install PastaCFW and the AGB patch. How does that work?

Don't use PastaCFW, it needs CubicNinja. Rx tool provides the same without need of additional stuff. If you use RXtools you can keep everything on the same SD card.


Instructions, it's very VERY easy.

-Go to the thread "RX tools is out with signature patch"
-Download the version wiyh twl and agb patched (Ssb and MH4 won't work)(no worries, you have GW mode for that )

- place the downloaded file in your SD card

-Go to the original RXtools threat (or site) and look for the program that provides firmware. bin. *an easy one click app that provides this file.
-put it on the root of your sd card
-Go to gateway mode and install the AGB patch. (just follow the AGB patch threat. )
-after the installation of the AGB patch and GBA games, shut down your 3DS.
-just turn it on again
-Open the browser on your 3DS and enter the launch site for RXtools (http://launch.rxtools.net/rxTools)
-Just choose launch Rxtools
-Now you're in RX mode in your emunand (profit)

note:if you installed the AGB patch correctly and you launch your gba game in RXMODE and you STILL got a black screen.

Try to use/make another GBA cia. If they're having a bad footer, they provides black screens or errors.

No, not at the moment!

AGB patch works(you need an additional new 3DS version, the normal one won't work) but you need another way than RXtools (pastaCFW?) to launch it.

for N3DS your best bet is:

Unlink sysnand and emunand (there is a thread for it, but be aware you will lose data currently installed to sysnand)
Cubic Ninja (Ninjhax) to run Pasta CFW (sysnand) (follow Pasta CFW thread)
Install BigBlueMenu or FBI cia to sysnand (will be used in Pasta CFW but you need to boot Gateway in sysnand mode to install)
Install patched AGB for N3DS using FBI(as @JordenNixNix posted, follow the thread)
Downgrade MSET profile (again there is a thread for it and it is part of Gateway release)
Boot Gateway (emunand) using downgraded MSET DS profile

You now have GBA VC and DSiWare from sysnand (Pasta CFW using Ninjhax) and regular Gateway mode using MSET DS Profile for regular installed CIA from emunand

I have not messed with RX Tools so I cannot comment on it, but I am loving me some Pasta CFW from sysnand on O3DS (using Ninjhax) for GBA and DSiWare. Use DS Profile to boot Gateway 9.8 emunand. Sure being tethered to Cubic Ninja (Ninjhax) sucks but it works and until someone makes it possible without Cubic Ninja covering 4.0 - 9.2 it seems like this is the best option for impatient people like myself.

There's only one guy developing rxTools, and he doesn't own a N3DS, plus that it use different ecryptions and stuff.

If you want to use it on emunand, install it to both sys and emu

just tried that but still "An error has occured..." Clearly since so many have this working, it gotta be me doing something wrong but I'm sure exactly what that is...

rxTools, is booting my emunand without problem but as soon as I try to launch GBA I'm hitting a black wall.

Did you install the patched cia (downloaded via 3dnus) to both sys and emu?

Of course, you must use rxtools for agb which doesn't support smash bros and mh4u

Not anymore. https://gbatemp.net/threads/release-custom-firmware-switcher-rxtools-mod.391223/ (a mod of rxTools) make you able to play GBA games on both sysNAND and emuNAND.
