After using Modmii, I've got a 4.1E running games of a 250 Gb USB-drive: it all works.
How it works is beyond me, but I'm grateful for the effort others have put in.

But now I'd like to go a step further: I'd like to use wifi to connect TO the Wii and (hopefully) have access to the SD-card and USB-drive.

I recall having read something about this, but I can't find it any more.
So any help/hints are welcome.

My Wii is talking to the Internet just fine.
I'd like to try and see if outside access to the Wii is possible.

for instance: dumping a movie or foto's on to the Wii's SD-card/USB-drive.

Gambia, The
access to the sd card is possible with ftpii. this program starts a ftp-server on the wii and you have access to the sd card and, i think to remember, to the dvd-drive

As stated, you can use ftpii to open up an FTP server on your Wii, which you then can access using a FTP client or most web browsers. And there are DVD dumpers to do that, but I stopped using these ages ago because I do that with Cfg-Loader now directly to the USB HDD.
But in my experience the SD card and Wii WiFi is so aggravatingly slow that it is much faster to walk over the to Wii, fetch the SD card an plug it into my computer and copy stuff that way.
