I'm trying to play Skylanders on USB Loader GX, but have realised that the portal can only be inserted into port 0. However, when I try to use port 1 for my HDD, it won't initialise. I've tryed editing the settings with the ports and multiple partitions, but I can't get it to work. I'm using a WBFS Manager-formatted drive if it's important. Is there a way to get it to read port 1 only, or to use the portal in a different port? Thanks!

What cIOS (type and version) are your using ? You should use at least d2x cIOS v8 final or v10 beta52/53
and what revision of USBLoader-GX ?

you can edit USBLGX meta.xml and check if you see this :

<arg>--usbport=2</arg>
<arg>--mountusb=1</arg>

ps : you should stop using an old and buggy WBFS partition. You can convert any WBFS drive to a (much better) FAT32 partition in one second, thanks to "wbfs2fat"
then you can use WBM or even better, WIT (command-line tool...but the best), in order to install new games.

I'm using v10 beta52 d2x-v10-beta52 for slots 249, 250 and 251, and I'm using v3.0 r1272 of USB Loader GX. I'm also using slot 249 for both my loader and game settings.

EDIT: If it also helps, I'm using a 4.3E Wii.

EDIT 2: Also, it sounds stupid, but I can't get other loaders and partitions because of stupid sites like AdFly, so I'm sticking with USB Loader GX and WBFS Manager.

Hello,

You can use an external hard drive in FAT 32 and use "" wii backup manager "to manage your games and everything will be fine.

Just for your information:
You have other loaders for the wii ==>

Wiiflow Lite par Fledge68 ==>https://github.com/Fledge68/WiiFlow_Lite/releases

Configurable loader v70 ==>https://wiidatabase.de/downloads/usb-und-disk-loader/configurable-usb-loader-mod/

What adfly has to do with your own choices ?
  • You can convert your WBFS partition to a much convenient FAT32 one with a free program/python script (wbfs2fat)
  • You can manage your games on a FAT32 partition with free WBM/WIT
  • ALL loaders are hosted on free platforms like github or sourceforge
so, everything in this list can be downloaded for free, on free websites, without ANY adfly. What's your point ?
There is absolutely NO REASON at all to stay on a WBFS partition

d2x cIOS was made on purpose to move from WBFS to FAT32/NTFS partition(s). You should not use at all this old format, and even worst with this prehistoric manager (it was great when there wasn't any other choice...but now...)

You should really reconsider FAT32 partition. Sure it will work "out of the box" :yaywii:

Ok, so now WiiFlow doesn’t want to use the other USB slot now either. When I attempt to load games off the other USB slot, it kicks me back to the Wii Menu. When using the slot I used before, it works fine. I’ve tried force load cIOS and force cIOS revision, and USB settings, but it won't work. Also, if this is an important fact, i'm trying to use the usb slot that is on the left side of the back of the Wii when it is standing upright. It doesn't seem like any of the loaders want to load that usb slot.

I may be out of date of my info, but I thought you need to use the ‘alt’ version of d2x to be able to use slot 1?:
https://github.com/davebaol/d2x-cios/wiki/How-to-choose-the-d2x-distribution-fitting-your-needs

Hello.:)

Maybe the hermes cIOS on Slot 222/223 is the better Choice. Please use @XFlak ´s ModMii to get them.

Cyan stated clearly,on USBLoader GX the BOTH Port at the same Time with USB HDD/Devices Solution is not necessary and will not work properly on the Wii ! Please take the Advise from him as Someone who knows what he suggests.

Thank you.:)

And there is also the Option to get the original Skylander Game:

WBFS Manager corrupts games when adding new ones on after deleting old ones. Don't use it. Wii Backup Manager is recommended. Best use FAT32, it works with GC games through Nintendont and other homebrew as well like emulators, WBFS you're limited to Wii games only. Converting is easy and quick with wbfs2fat: https://gbatemp.net/threads/wbfs2fat-py.291320/

To use a HDD with the second port you need d2x-v10-beta53-alt. However, my cousin played Skylanders a lot and had no issues with getting it to work plugged in to the second port, so that's strange. As long as it's plugged in before launching the USB loader (as beta52 doesn't support hotplugging), it should just work.

That is very outdated.

it should work fine with d2x v8 (or r52). you don't need r53.
it's needed only if you plug the drive on port1, which shouldn't be required here.

I didn't have enough report on Wii, I got only from vwii, so take it as possible mistake but :

- the HDD partition format has no incidence on the NFC accessory. you can keep WBFS, this is not the problem here. changing to FAT32 is for another time.
- use d2x v8 or d2x r52
- hdd on port 0
- Portal on Port 1 (top on Wii, back-bottom on vWii)
- do not enable multi port in the loader. it's useless if you don't use multi HDD, or hdd on port1. also useless if you don't use d2x r53
- plug the accessorie(s) before launching the game, as v8 or r52 doesn't have plug&play support.
- d2x BASE 56 <---- VERY IMPORTANT. Do not use base57 for that game, or the NFC accessory will not work.

base57 is working for 99% of games, and for this reason, we (mainly me?) decided to change all guides and install that base in slot249.
only one game require base56 (spyro), and therefore for this game you need to edit the game's individual settings to use slot250 (IF and only IF this is the slot where your base 56 is located).

if you installed base56 in slot 249, then do not change the game settings, as it should already use slot249 by default. (just verify your slots, base, and game's settings IOS slot)

And that's maybe one common mistake new users are making : installing ALL three cIOS in the three common slot is NOT enough and not a miracle.
you need to actually activate one of the three on a per-game basis !
only ONE is active at a time, and therefore you need to choose which one. having a cIOS installed, but not actually using it is completely useless.

That's only from reports I've read, I didn't test the game myself.
