it'll help more users with the same problem and using Mac drives too.

You format FAT32 using Mac?
I don't know which format they are using, maybe not FAT32?
maybe a special partition code for their own FAT32? looking at the partition table could help find a solution if it's related.

I actually use a PC myself, they were originally bought for my wife, she uses mac. I completely reformatted the drives though so it should have wiped it to what I formatted on the PC right?

yes, I think windows should have edited the "partition type" in the partition table too.
some app don't update it, so I can only assume Windows does it as I never verified.

but supports only linux, FAT32, NTFS, extended, and WBFS.
there are lot of different "FAT32" code, only 2 are listed here (0b and 0c).
