Hello everyone, I know that there are a lot of posts regarding this topic of the USB Loader GX black screen, but I'm hoping someone can help since those threads didn't help me.. I originally tried with a usb drive and that didn't work so I switched to a HDD. It's able to load GC games fine but not Wii games. I use Wii backup manager to put them on my HDD. I also used the proper CIOS from Wii guide. I tried versions 271 and 272 of usb loader as well. Is there anything else I can do? Thank you.

Thank you for the sysCheck,it is good/ok.:yaywii:

Would you be so kind and can you please describe the Wii Boot/Loading Issue/Behavior in Detail ?

When you start a Wii Game via USBLoader GX,then

- it boots and stays on Black Screen / Wii Motion Controller LED is out.
- it boots and stays on Black Screen / Wii Motion Controller LED is still on.
- it gets you back on the USBLoader GX Screen /Wii Motion Controller must be "re-activated" by pressing a Button.
- it gets you back on the USBLoader GX Screen /Wii Motion Controller is still on/working.
- it gets you to the Wii´s System Menu Screen.

Thank you for your Help.:)

Hello Alexander,

Thanks so much for reaching out. I wasn't sure if this was in the correct place and I saw the noob section so I thought it might be better. I'm new to this, my apologies. Let me know if I should delete or move a post and I will. I appreciate it !
When I start a Wii game from USB Loader GX the Wii controller LED goes out and it stays on a black screen. Then when I try to use the wii controller it blinks but does not connect and the screen is still black. I then have to hold down the power button and re turn on the console to get it working again.

This can be happen for several Reasons:

- Your HDD is connected to the correct Port 0 on your Wii ?

kri1pk52t3s41.jpg

- The Game(s) uses some other IOS/cIOS for Loading (many "not so famous" Wii Games like Horse Games for Example).
(This can be simply changed in the Settings)

- The Game(s) are not ok/not correctly transferred/installed on your USB Device.
- Did you have downloaded your Games ? Or installed from a Game Disc ?
- How did you transferred the Games to your USB Device please ?
(You use an HDD as I read from your first Post ?)
- How is your HDD formatted please ?

Thank you for your Help.:)

Thanks again and sorry if I don't answer quickly. I do have it connected to port 0.
I am trying with Mario Sluggers and Wii Sports Resort.
I downloaded the games. Not from a disc. The gamecube games that I have work fine though.
I used Wii backup manager to transfer the games.
I formatted the HDD to FAT 32. And my mistake, its actually a WD brand if that makes a difference.

Yes it is connected to that port.
Thank you,very good.:)

Then there are two Points left:

- Your downloaded Games are maybe "not ok" (corrupt/bad Downloads maybe)
Can you maybe check 2 -3 Games from other Source(s) ?

The other Thing that you maybe can try at First:

For the "Wii Sport Resorts" Game (NTSC US Version I presume ?),try and and change the Game´s IOS to 250 please:

Do not forget to Save and then exit and try it please.
Good Luck.:)

You are using NTSC Games on an NTSC Wii,correct ? :)
Which A/V Connection did you have please ?
Standard AV or maybe HDMi Adapter or maybe a Component Cable ?

Thank you.:)

Hello, my wii is NTSC and I believe my games are as well. How would I double check that?

For Example:

- maybe you have the Cover already downloaded too
- the ID via the WiiBackup Manager
- via the Game List in USBLoader GX

and compare it with the Database.:)

What you can also try is please:

In the InGame Settings from the "Wii Sports Resort" Game change the emuNAND Save Setting to OFF please.

Thank you for the information. I double checked and it is NTSC U with the correct code. I also tried the emuNAND to off but it did not work still. :( Also i noticed something that I didnt see before. In my harddrive setting on USB Loader. I have a FAT32 partition with 446GB, an NTFS partition with 18GB, another NTFS partition with 0.59 GB and another Fat32 Partition with 0.29 GB . The WII games are only in the 446GB FAT 32 partition though. Could that be causing any issue? Thank you.

Thank you for that important Info.
Yes,it can cause such Issues.

The "easiest" Way is maybe to re-format your HDD with FAT32 in one Piece please.
You do not need NTFS,the WiiBackup Manager splits automatically the Files for you.:)

Yes,please try it,I am pretty sure,it will work for you.:)
Good luck and please be so kind and continue giveing us Feedback of your Progress.
Thank you.:)

Okay thank you, I will try it now. I believe I used WII Backup or another application (called gui or something) to format the drive to only fat 32. so im not sure why it made any partitions? Do you have a recommendation of a program to format the drive? And is there an recommended allocation unit size that I should use? Thanks so much.

First you can try it with the WiiBackup Managers Option - Format Drive
I am not sure,if it also deletes the Partitions.

There are many Tools around, for myself I have used "AOMEI Partition Assistant" since two Years,
but as I said, there are more Tools around.:)

You can set the Allocation Unit Size to "Auto" it is not really relevant for a 500 GB HDD.

Good Luck.
Thank you.:)

Is this the first game u r playing with at requires a wii motion + controller? You need to watch the motion+ video at least once on the console before being able to launch titles like wii sports resort. I don't recall for certain, but I think the video is on a separate partition on the disk that may have been removed by WBM

Item description:

Use this Wii Sports Resort save to bypass the Wii MotionPlus video and Skydiving game for the first time playing it, for those who have some problems (e.g. After the Wii MotionPlus video may go to the system menu (Wii Menu) or black screen) in this game in some USB/DVD backup loaders, so you don't want to use the alternate DOL. Also, this save will unlock a few stuff. This is for NTSC-U (the American version) only!Instructions:1. Download the ZIP file by clicking the Download button below of this page. Save this to your desktop.2. Extract the ZIP file.3. Click the extracted ZIP folder (WiiSportsResort folder)4. Use your SD card on your computer, and copy the WIISAVES folder to the root of your SD card.5. Copy the save-installer folder to the apps folder in your SD card.6. Take out your SD card from your computer and put it on your Wii.7. Turn on your Wii, and navigate to The Homebrew Channel.8. In The Homebrew Channel, navigate to Savegame Installer.9. Insert the NTSC-U (the American version) version of Wii Sports Resort DVD (retail or backup). Press the reset button on your Wii console to install.10. Once it finishes, go to the USB/DVD loader for Wii, launch your game and that's it. Enjoy! If you have any problems, PM me or discuss this topic, provided in the link below.

You need to register to download it. It's a bit strange because it uses v2 of Waninkoko's savegame installer which I think was outdated even when sports resort came out. In theory it should still work, but I've personally only ever used savegame manager gx. Perhaps if u install this successfully, you can use the GX version to make a GX compatible game save for future use in case someone else has this issue they don't need to mess around with a very outdated app.

Edit: In the end I think this will work, but I don't think doing this will register the motion + video as watched for other games, so one would need to use a similar method for each game with motion +. It would be a better solution to actually watch the video, or mark it as watched on the console somehow, rather than installing game saves for every title where you need to bypass the motion + video.

Edit2: I just reread this thread. If you are unable to load games that don't require the wii motion + controller, get those to work before doing any of this stuff I'm talking about related to wii sports resort, the wii motion+ video and game saves.
