Hacking USB Loader (configurable) Freeze - not the typical freeze issu

USB loader works fine when I launch the games - no problems there HOWEVER for some reason, it sometimes freezes (and black screens which requires me to hard reset the wii and usb drive) when I launch the loader or certain games. Once in game though, it NEVER freezes. Could this be a spindown/sleep issue or maybe my usb hard drive is crappy (hitachi - self powered by the usb).

Any suggestions?

I am having the same exact issue. Can launch games without issue, it's the loader that sometimes freezes.

A bit more detail on the problem. Using a WD Essentials 640Gig usb powered drive. Problem occurs when launching Configurable Loader from the Homebrew Channel. I will get the occasional freeze before the Configurable Loader splash-screen even appears.
