USB device problem

    I have never had a USB problem... until now. When my old PC died, I salvaged some useful things. Like the DVD rewriter and then I bought one of those IDE adapters where I can plug it into my DVD rewriter and then plug it into my USB port. This worked okay for a whole year until now when I tried turning it on and got a "USB device not recognised" message. Now I'm stumped on how to fix it.

    hm... either onboard usb chipset on the adapter is fried, (power surge), or the drivers are gone somehow, (windows i presume?) try reinstalling drivers, if not, do an internal install on the drive.

    Actually my other USB device works. Just not that one.

    did you try putting it on a known working port?
