Hacking USB Advice needed

I just got a USB drive, and wondered the best way to get it working.

At the moment, I have latest Neogamma and Configurable USB loader.
Not sure on cIOS, latest 249 for sure.

HDD is formatted to NTFS, followed some instructions somewhere that said the USB loader will read .iso from a folder if its called WBFS.

Do I need anything else?
The guide I read said use Hermes cIOS 222/3/4 for NTFS.

You can also use wbfs files instead, they take up less space than iso.

Use wii backup manager to transfer your files, and yes use hermes cios 222. cios249 i find to be glitchy with ntfs (freezes alot, at least for me)

sounds right, but ntfs can read ISOs, sparsed ISOs, and wbfs files

main difference is that sparsed ISOs and wbfs files take up less space

u can convert your iso's to these formats using "wii backup manager"

fyi, ntfs only supports reading, so if u want to be able to rip your original games to your harddrive using the wii, ntfs wont work, i recommend using fat32 (this also works for storing and launching other homebrew apps), wbfs format also works but can only store wii games and can't be read natively by windows

I just looked for Hermes.
Is v5 ok to use?
It says "needs trucha patched IOS". If i'm already using HBC, will this work?

I'm using NTFS so I can use it for other things.

What can I use to rip originals to HDD, and ow much space will it need? Its only a 35Gb drive I had lying around

unless u have one of the few and uncommon LG dvd drives in your computer, u can't rip a wii game using ur PC

the ONLY way is to rip it to a wbfs or fat32 formatted hard drive (btw, the only important thing ntfs can do that fat32 cant is store single files larger than 4gbs, of course this doesn't apply to wii games, which can be split into parts)

if u insist on keeping your hard drive formatted as ntfs, find another fat32 or wbfs formatted drive, rip the originals to that (using a usb-loader and your wii), then transfer them to your ntfs drive using your computer and a program like wii backup manager

Format the drive as FAT32, then use Configurable USB_Loader to rip and play the backups.

NTFS isnt worth the hassle. Simply no benefits to using it in the Wii over FAT32, or even WFBS.

Keep NTFS for your PC, thats where its meant to be used.

FAt32 does have a chance.

The USBloader or Convertor will 'split' the file into 2 smaller files, and will them read / play them them no worries.

wfbs is wii files only, so no avi to my knowledge ... and a pc can't read of the wbfs drive

This is technically incorrect. While the IOS doesn't support NTFS on its own, oggzee's fragments plug-in allows it to support NTFS with Configurable. It's still read-only for now, though.
