Sometimes the game closes and my wiiu shows the message that the external drive won't get enough power. (my son goes crazy when that happens  )
But i'm already using a external hdd with power , would the USB Y cable fix the problem?
Because i've already heard the Y cable is only for HDD without external power.

Plz someone help

I been using a Y-cable, no issues so far. I wouldn't know about maybe external power source like a AC adapter unit but i can say for sure. Been using a WD 1TB HDD with usb3.0 y cable and no issue not once. :)

Just remember to plug it directly into the two ports on the system.

wierd your hdd that has its own power supply stops working randomly, well an y cable will always give more power but maybe your hdd is jsut dying and sometimes it stops working sudently and has nothing to do with the wiiu?
