Gaming US Radiant Dawn + PAL Path of Radiance save?

With no sign of release of Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn on the Q1 list of NOE's releases I've begun thinking about buying an US Wii and importing the game.

However, I really don't want to miss all those neat little extras the Path of Radiance save grants you Radiant Dawn, so I'd like to know if it would be possible to use my PAL PoR save to hook up with the NTSC Radiant Dawn.

Does anyone here have any experience about trying to "cross-breed" these two different versions this way? I know the games are region-locked, but are saves also?
I'd appreciate any information on this.

Good question. DS saves generally aren't region-locked, but... Can't help there. I don't have a PAL Wii.

I doubt it would work, while saves are not "region-locked", the saves on different versions of the same game have different filenames on the memory cards, and since the US-RD would probably look for a US-PoR save...

Um, you mean the US-RD would look for a US-PoR save. It likely wouldn't look for a PAL one.
