Hi everyone, i was super excited to get the black nintendo DS since it came out today...

I first went to frys and picked one up, drive back to GFs place to find it had a DEAD PIXEL on the upper screen right center

I thought, darn what bad luck...

We later headed out to a walmart and they had black ds's too, so i figured what the heck, just pick one up hear and return the other one to frys....

Just opened that one up, DEAD PIXEL bottom screen right center

    thats 2 for 2....

NINTENDO's QC and screens are getting bad!!!!

I bought a black DS Lite yesterday at Zellers.
Arrived at home, opened it and start Mario Kart.
BANG! It was there, on the tire of the kart (splash screen) a little blue dot in the lower middle of the screen. A dead pixel!

I'm going to return it today and I think I will open the new one in the store to be sure that is OK.

Sounds like just luck of the draw. All the replies on gamefaqs and other sites, not that many dead pixies have been reported.

All I can say is that my fiancees pink and my onyx lites have perfect screens.

Can't you ask to check them at the store before you leave, or would they give you a weird look if you tried that? Ater waiting so long for one I'm damned if I'll be accepting one with a dead pixel in it...

Has anyone experienced or read about issues with the yellow touch screens on the onyx that people have reported in the european version?

I compare my old Phat DS with the new Onyx DS and the screen doesn't seem to be yellow.

The blus pixel is always blue, at start, during the game, on the menu, always... maybe it's just stuck.
What's the pixel fixer ? Never heard of it.

I had to replace my unit once before I got a clean DS Lite. Mu replacement unit from the store than had the hinge crack!

The replacement unit from NOA has 2 stuck pixels! Don't they check their refurbished units!? Worst part.. the replacement unit.. has scratches on the cover!

I thought they were sending out brand new units if you send in a cracked one. I would have to receive a scratched screen after protecting my own so carefully.

Does anyone know if they consider crappy diagonals a valid return reason?

Bought an Onyx Tuesday at Zellers also and when I got home - BAM - big pink bad pixel in the center of the screen... Took it back and asked to test a new one before I left. They were great about it and the second one was fine so I took it and ran [IMG]

Man, do the Onyx show finger prints though...

    IMPORTANT HOT PIXEL READ............

Hello for U that have hot pixels (allways on, blue, red or green), you can fix them fix the "pixel fixer", but is important to RUB THE SCREEN, like if you were cleaning it from dust, aply some preasure to massage it.

My DS, bought on launch date, had a green pixel, using the pixel fixer alone without massage didnt work, aplayed some preasure and massage and I havent had any problem until this date.

Massage the entire screen, my dead pixel was on the right-center of the screen, I had to apply preasure on the left side.

Hope that the advice works for U.

Good Luck, it worked for me.

    Thanks for the tip tw8e60.

BTW, I had 2 stuck pixels on my White DSlite which I purchased at launch (blue pixels), but they just went away after I used it for a while.

Tonight, I going to give a pixel fix and a sweet massage to my new Onyx DSL.
    Hope it's going to work.

P.S. It is sooooo true that the Onyx show finger prints...

My first Onyx DS has two red pixels and one blue on the touch screen. I immediately returned it and received a perfect one =]

Seriously, wtf is wrong with Nintendo's QC? I hope the Wii won't have this many problems. My Polar DS has the cracked hinge, yellow touch screen, and defective touch screen. Maybe this is Nintendo's new marketing scheme to make people buy a second system to bloat their sales figure =P
