Hacking URGENT: DS may be dead

ok so i was opening up my DS to change the touch screen... WITHOUT reading the guide. fair enough it was very easy to disassemble.

i thought the ribbon was one of those u had to pull out... gave it a tug... didnt come out...tried to lift it... didnt come out...

then i went to the flickr guide and it said there was a lever.. oh F*CK!

a bit of the bottom lever is snapped now.. and my DS light turns on for a few seconds and then turns off again. (yes ive read that nintendo does a system check and if something isnt connected then it turns itself off)

so what can/should i do? im baffled..

Looks like all thats busted is the fastener, trying just taping it down or something. Apply some scotch tape with some paper inbetween so theres pressure applied to it, but that looks like it would work still if you can just get the ribbon cable to just stay in there.
EDIT: You said you're replacing the touchscreen. Did you perhaps buy the entire lower screen preassembled, or do you plan on just replacing the touch screen, and not the LCD? Guess you've already gotten far enough to be putting it back together.

thanks for giving me some hope. i bought some touch screen from DX so all i needed to do is change it...

bit late me reading this now... ive taken the whole thing apart

ok it seems to be still not working

when i close the lever down without any tape it seems like it sticks in ok without me tugging on it too hard.

how old is the DS and why did you want to replace the touchscreen? was it broke?

ahh all seems to be ok now.

the DS was the one i bought for $45... as you guys probably have read...was in pretty bad condition with the touch screen being scratched.

oh sh*t just noticed, my power button was sliding around, so i reopened it to see what was going to discover that the button had been snapped! now the only way i can turn it on is by using a tiny screw driver.

any suggestions as to how on earth i could fix this or any alternative methods?

well gg meant good game actually in dota but then the term is now mostly used when sumting bad happened.....well in asia where dota players are god anyway.

Saying "gg" in this context pretty much means "you owned yourself", or "it's all over" since when you'd normally say gg, it would mean gg as in the end of an online game match (like in CounterStrike, Battlefield, etc.).

lol the same thing happened to mine.

I use a toothpick to turn it on now, it's better than a screwdriver.

ok i tried to super glue the switch on as i managed to find the end of it.... BAD MISTAKE... cant even turn it on now. guess ill need to find some new parts if i ever want to use this DS again

humm just like my DS Phat...I had to make sure the lever was smashed tite down to get it to stay on
