Hacking upgrading to 4.2u

I have a 4.0u wii and I want to upgrade to the latest version so my kid can play animal crossing with her friends. I have the homebrew channel. Is there anything else I need to do before the upgrade? Can I just let the wii update itself or do I have to get the upgrade from somewhere else?

Why can't you play Animal Crossing without updating? All it needs is IOS38... (It's safe to run that disc update for you, by the way.)

I advise you just follow the stickied guide to modify any wii, its there 4 a reason and will help you update and rehack, but as the above poster said you only need an updated ios

...or if you're still paranoid about disc updates, you can always use Dop-Mii.
