Ive been using a western digital internal 250gb hard drive with external usb 2.0 enclosure with a 2gb san disk SD card for about 2 years now with no problems till i ran out of space. My hard drive was formatted WBFS so all my emulators, wii ware and vc games ran off the SD card. I just bought a seagate free agent desk 1tb external hdd to replace my 250gb hdd + 2gb SD Card but i want to format it to fat32 since i hear its the best format for wii. But my questions are how will i be able to back up my smah bros brawl since its dual layer 8+gigs and fat32 cant take more than 4gigs? Also how do i install my VC, WiiWare and make my emulators forwarders, go to USB instead of SD? I would like to keep the entire drive fat 32 and would not want a wbfs partition for the games.

    P.S. I use wbfs_inteligent_gui_v6 with CFG Loader 65.

big game are automatically split - you wont notice anything

some homebrew works from usb some does not
    but its getting better
if it doesn't work keep the apps on the sd
but move it's data (roms/movies/games ...) to usb

just go ahead and give it a try
    it worked fine for me

Wii Backup Manager automatically splits the files. There are no drawbacks.

Backup anything you want to keep and reformat it using your operating system's formatting software or EASEUS.
