Hacking Upgrading 9.2 by Download Play transferring an existing 9.2 console?

SORRY IT FINALLY FAILED!

Steps:
1. Run a game DL Play supported (such as Mario Kart 7, Luigi's Mansion 2, some VCs like Battle City, etc.) with SOURCE 9.2 console - Only Digital version works!
2. Start a multiplay.
3. Run DL Play with TARGET console, choose 3DS mode, then enter the multiplay SOURCE console hosted.
4. Upgrade TARGET's firmware when the dialogue appears.

Untested on 4th step.
BTW, I can only test upgrading 9.2 to 9.3 by this method.

That means, if we want to upgrade a new target console to 9.2 via DL Play, we should have:
- A Digital Game supports DL Play INSIDE a source console with SysNAND 9.2

I haven't tried GW3D-9.2 x MK7-CIA.
Because I'm afraid that it will upgrade the target SysNAND into GW3D which may BRICK the target console.

There's really no reason to update a 4.5 system. No extra benefits that Gateway brings to having a 9.2 sysNAND as far as they've indicated. But if you'll be doing it just to get us some extra data on this update method, then thanks for being a guinea pig.

Except that newer games that use the 6.x save mechanism will work properly in classic mode. Meaning the game will be playable on other consoles.

Ah I didn't consider that. Still, until they release the exploit to the public, we won't know what possible drawbacks the 9.2 sysNAND has compared to 4.5, either. Best to have everything available for you to make an informed decision before doing anything irreversible.

to bad i got a 9.2E console and a 4.5U console, -.- , otherwise i could get 9.2 emunand sins i got my 4.5 console just a couple of hours after the 9.3 release, well... , guess 8.1 from Smash Bros have to do, xD

Not recommending doing this unless you backed-up your target 3DS's SysNAND.
Because if a GW3D emuNAND doesn't work in SysNAND, then transferring emuNAND into SysNAND may BRICK your target 3DS.

Sorry it finally failed!

After the upgrading dialogue, press A, it doesn't process the upgrade, but pops another message to ask you upgrading SysNAND on your own.....
