I am currently using firmware 3.2 and looking to upgrade this morning. Before I do so, should I install BootMii and run a NAND backup in case I do something wrong? Suggestions?

After I have done the updater, would it be recommended to install preloader? What does preloader do anyway?

Do you have the link to Waninkoko's updater?

Preloader allows cool system menu hacks, such as making channels regionfree and removing the annoying health warning message and background music.
You can also use preloader to autoboot to an application after powering on the Wii, such as an USB loader for example

with preloader you can come in the wii when you have a bannerbrick and other stuff, also there is a lot of hax for the wiimenu but they are not (yet) converted to 4.1.

I found the link, but I am a bit new to this. I put it on the root of the SD card and run it through the HB?

Besides BootMii, making a NAND backup, updating to 4.1, installing preloader (which version is the most current?), updating to rev 14.....is there anything else I should do? What is a good backup loader?

Does 4.1 update and install all the necessary IOS files since my 3.2 firmware?

If you use Wanin's updater, no. I think the only IOS's it installs are IOS60 (System Menu IOS) and IOS61 (Shop channel IOS)
Update through Nintendo if you want all the necessary IOS's to play the latest games.
