Hacking Question Updated to 6.2.0 with cfw and my clean backup is on 6.0.0 can I still restore?

So my dirty switch isn't banned yet and is currently on 6.2.0, is there a way i can restore my 6.0.0 clean backup or its useless now?

If you're asking if you can restore your 6.0.0 clean backup and then boot to OFW normally the answer is no unless you updated to 6.2.0 using Choi to avoid burning fuses. If your fuse count matches 6.2.0 then you will never be able to restore to 6.0.0 again and boot normally.

You can still restore to 6.0.0 using your backup if you don't mind booting into RCM every time first and loading a custom bootloader. All the popular custom bootloaders bypass fuse check but I don't see the point in downgrading if you have to use RCM every time anyway. What do you gain by downgrading? Nothing.

No. If he restores the 6.0 backup to his 6.2 device, it will NOT boot properly, unless he updated via choidujournx AND preserved his fuses when upgrading to 6.2

Yeah, it would work like: Restore 6.0, update on 6.2 (or whatever the most current fw is)

Do this. BACKUP your switch on 6.0, RESTORE that backup ON 6.2. See what happens.

Yeah, the backup is not as useful as it could be, but it is also not completely useless as it can be used to restore a legit state even though it can't be booted directly any more

@pworld is half right. You could restore a clean backup of 6.0 then boot hekate and launch OFW and then update fully from there. I dont think it would be considered "clean" though because you had to boot RCM and a custom boot loader to bypass fuse count and then legit update.

thanks guys ill propably get a new switch for online only and keep the current switch for emulating and stuff
