HI all,
Appologies for noob question. I have found so many guide for how to update Wii but none of them has clear instruction what do to etc... I am bit scarry to do it without confirmation

Currently I have old Wii 3.2E Modchip + Softmod with cIOS38_rev14. Last time I did this about 7-8 years ago... Now I am bit lost...

I want to play new Wii games from USB (FAT32 or NTFS). Currently I can play old games via USB loader but only WBFS format. FAT32 nor NTFS are not recognized by USB Loader GX. I am using WAD channel for USB loader.

How can I safe update mi Wii to avoid any brick ? Your help is much appreciated!
Thanks

I would use DOP-Mii to reinstall the exact version (make sure before installing) of all the patched IOSs so they are clean.

next, I would upgrade to 4.3 normally after updating the homebrew channel via the hackmii installer. This will prevent the 4.3 update from removing HBC.

Modmii is my preferred update/modding method. In your case I'd only update to SM 4.1 or even just stay on 3.2. I'm fairly certain the only thing you gain is SDHC support. All the game IOSes and cIOSes can be updated without changing the System Menu.
The latest releases of GX do support FAT32 and NTFS you must have a really old version (current is 3.0 r1672).
It's better to install a forwarder channel then have the app in a folder to update it easier. Modmii guide includes one or there is a GX one in that GX thread.

I would advise against doing an official update. at least for a minute...

An official update would include the boot2v4 update. Nintendo's code was so horribly written that they ended up bricking more non-modded Wiis than modders had ever done. In theory it was still 1 in a 1000 but N forced millions of updates whereas 1 in a 1000 modders in a field a thousandth the size is relatively small...

IF and only IF you get the new Bootmii/HBC installer Hackmii v1.2 and do the Bootmii boot2 install first then you could be ok doing the Official update as Bootmii will update your boot2 to v4 so Nintendo wont have to do it.

I tried to use Modmii Wizard. It download lot of WAD on my destop. I tried to install only Hackmi installer 1.2 (via current HBC I have roght now) but I get stuck on scammed screen. It wont load and does not offer to "PRES 1 TO CONTINUE"
I would stay even on 3.2E. ALso I dont have option to do NAND backup as in current HBC (Bootmi lanucher) that option is not available, when I launch Bootmi it will load Wad Manader 1.4... Dont know what to do know.

also tried to install latest ver if USB Loader GX + forwarder as WAD but both failed as they require IOS58... Manually copy USB loader GX do /apps worsk fine. But not as WAD channel.
Can I safelly install IOS58 via WAD manager ? And then at least USB Forwarder as WAD Channel ?

Hackmii Installer can reinstall BootMii after a system update on consoles that have a vulnerable boot2.

Getting stuck on the scam warning screen usually means either it doesn't like the SD card (plain SD is recomended) or IOS 58 is missing or patched.

Don't use the USB Loader GX full channel. It is outdated and no longer supported. Just use the forwarder. It does require IOS 58.

I don't think that installer downloads the latest version. v6176 is the latest one. I don't see IOS 58 in your SysCheck report, that's why I mentioned it.

I have load sysCheck.csv via ModMii shortcut on my desktop. It downloaded lots of ios WADs and also SystemMenu_4.1E_v450.wad + guide
This is how my folder COPY_TO_SD looks like. If I want update my softmoded Wii with all proposed patches by Syscheck now should I copy everything on my SD card and overwrite all files and the following the guide ?

Regarding WAD installation I got below. Should I install WAD in this order as below right ? Starting with IOS11v16174.... end up last one IOS62-64-v6430

What is the file SystemMenu_4.1E_v450.wad ? I that firmware which will update my Wii from 3.2E to 4.1E ? DO I understand correctly ? Sorry for all this noobs question.

Maybe it doesn't like your SD card. I found BootMii to be extremely picky with SD cards on my Wii.

I have successfully managed to update my softmodded Wii. All is working very well :)
what I did:
1. installed IOS58 via MMM Wad manager
2. Updated HBC + Bootmi (form Bootmi I used Configuration Editor and edited Video setting to PAL 50 to fix black screen)
3. Did NAND backup
4. next steps via Guide from MoodMii wizard (no issue at all with updating and installing)

Thanks to great guide ! Saved me lot of pain in my ass :))))
