My vita is on 3.70. Do you mean going to the advanced settings, changing DNS Settings to manual, then setting primary DNS to 212.47.229.76? I tried that, but when I try to open the PS store to download loco roco, it still asks me to update my firmware. Argh, I was going to do this last night but didn't have time, and now this update appears. Talk about bad timing...

Seriously, why bother updating a dead platform when they did not support it in the first place. Honestly, though, Henkaku, H-Encore, Trinity is what keeps it going imo, except for the hardcore collectors who want and buy original software.

I am far from being a hardcore collector, however I do prefer having the original stuff.
    Do not assume absolutes.

If they aren't making any more games for the Vita, who cares if a new firmware is dropped? Where's the point in updating?

Battery on a slim is like 5 hours, but it lacks the oled.

People still use it legally and they want to prevent those from finding out about hacks. It's a considerable revenue stream still

Is it possible this is related to the Sony Rewards system? I'm not aware of all the details of this "rewards for trophies" scheme but my understanding is that it's possible (or will be at some point) to earn real world rewards (discounts on games, PSN credit) for in-game trophies. A hacked Vita makes it pretty easy to rack these up and I don't know whether or not the PS3/Vita/PS4 crossplay game trophies are distinguishable by platform.

If this is true it would be one reason that Sony would be willing to allocate development resources to a console that is generating relatively little revenue.

    Where I want to be
I'm not worried much. I already have a 3.60 and 3.65 vita that has everything I need anyway. Plus I'm sure this update is not just for patching trinity. It's also probably for the store which releases indi games often enough and also the japan only games that they still make.

Sony stopped manufacturing Vitas in 2018 (supposedly), so that probably means that any Vita you'd buy today would be sitting on at most 3.70, right? It's not like Amazon is manually downloading firmware updates for those Vitas collecting dust on warehouse shelves.

There are games being released on US and Europe as well, but only in digital format.

Imagine if Sony had put this much effort into making good games to keep the Vita alive.
