I just showed you, that SciresM has it on 3.0.2 and still think it is just in theory?

anyways this proves ninty is incompetent at console security if the fw's have multiple bugs even bugbounty won't be able to keep up at this rate

Well cool beans. The day a new update comes, we'll see how it goes. I'm currently on 4.1 already so I don't mind.

Thanks to hexkyz for the write up, always nice to have real devs who know what they are talking about keeping us updated.

Awesome so my 3.0 Switch still has a chance for kernel action.

I'm just gonna keep updating and buy the hardmod if I really feel the desperate need to get Android F2P games on my Switch.

Whatever if xecuter's claims are true. (And they rarely fail to meet the claims they make) this doesn't matter at all. The main reason being that the way the exploit works would require trust zone for them to be able to cold boot especially with a modified boot sequence... the fact is if the hack is indeed future proof they have "unlocked" the switch entirely and they will manufacture and sell the hardware needed for the hack.

I suppose there are those in regions that can't afford/can't legally purchase said hardware that would benefit from kernel hax but in general the optimal method for *hax* would be the hardware mod

It matters a lot.. Free vs Paid.. If there are free alternatives, it's always a good thing.

I'm not familiar with this particular person, but I'm hoping that 4.1.0 will certainly be hackable.

Guess time will tell, won't it.

Another one of those guys? I hate these type of threads by these type of people. It is equivalent to a child mocking their sibling about having the last bowl ice cream and how they can't have any until more is bought later. However it is winter out, so he/she knows the parents won't be buying anymore any time soon!

    Haha, this is hilarious.

Now lots of people will update to 4.1 and the forum will be flooded with threads asking about a release date and 1 billion thread asking if <insert fw # here > is hackable

The hack being mis-characterized here, is about userland. It is a research tool more than anything and is very much not something you want to release when the software you're trying to crack is constantly being fixed and secured further.

Them releasing this is self-defeating and they lose one of their own tools for the system for the long term.
