Hi guys i initally made this thread a while ago.

My Serial number is LEH18277160

I still havent actually chipped my Wii due to time and stuff etc, but im planning to do it as soon as possible. Just wondering if the chip mentioned in the thread is still the best? Or are there newer and cheaper ones out now?

Also i heard something about the wiiclips and was just wondering if someone could confirm or rubbish it lol. Someone told me that they aren't that good, as the joints get heated, leading to the chip becoming seperated from the actual clip? It sounds rubbish to me, but thought id check on this forum just in case.

Looking to chip this Wii probably this or next weekend so seriously any help is appreciated.

Thank you for all the earlier comments also.

I would wait, if I were you...there are other Chips coming, which you DON'T have to solder, only plug some cables...BUT nothing is realy confirmed that they will come, you have to trust that they are no fakes...

Two names:
-WiiZii
-Drivekey

If you want to play backups now, you have two possibilities:
-Softmod your Wii, and wait for one of these new Chips...
-Buy a Chip which you have to solder/Clip (I recommend the WiiKey 2, also presoldered on a Clip avaiable)

Thanks for the Wiikey 2 thing. I think i might just go ahead and install that. Just wondering if anyone could confirm the argument regarding the wiiclip? Im pretty sure i can solder it myself, but if the wiiclip, makes it a lot easier then i would rather purchase that. Just the whole argument about it coming loose kind of pushes me away lol.

Thanks

One thing that just occurred to me.... The sound on the 2600 sucked less back then the harsh sound we hear now is from infinitely better speakers we have now, back when the 2600 was new speakers produced a almost muffled sound, like CRTs made old graphics look slightly better.

I wonder if I could recommend that to some emulation devs that perhaps the sound could use some smoothing out to simulate those old TVs
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think a few of the early systems could benefit from that, at least up to the 8 bit generation, by the 16 bit generation I think TVs had gotten a lot better in almost every way

It's old but it's the best firmware out for DS stuff
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
it says it only works for the original R4, R4i Gold (r4ids.cn), R4iDSN (r4idsn.com) and Acekard R.P.G.
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
    nvm it does support mine

Just give it a try, but honestly if you have a 3DS you can play DS games without a card just off the internal SD card
