helluva boss and hazbin are bad shows

(i havent even watched them LMAO but i hate them and i hate how popular they are bc when i go to cons i struggle to find anythign that ISNT hazbin merch)
Then your opinion doesn’t matter

Helluva Boss season 2 suffers from flanderization.
It really sucks that season 1 ended in the restaurant finally confronting Blitzo and Stolas on their toxic relationship, only for them to “finish” season 1 completely ignoring that just to do a celebrity cameo and regress everything. S2 was so fucking cynical and really made no sense. Was it really necessarily to try to excuse Stolas by making Stella a bigger bitch? Why did they need to start shitting on Moxxie? Did they need to recon Stolas’ marriage? So many questions that just made S2 a slap in the face for those who enjoyed season 1

Side node, Moxxie is my boy and I love him

Thank you! I think season 1 episodes 7 and 8 are fine, but they would've fit so much better before Truth Seekers. Truth Seekers is such a good episode and it feels like they decided to completley ignore it going forward.

I stopped watching after the camp episode. That entire song that just dumped all over Moxxie made me stop watching the series. It just became too obvious that whoever they are trying to appeal to, isn’t me
I enjoyed pretty much all of season 1, even with some of the flaws. Just wish they kept going with the momentum they started in season 1

Lmao I also stopped watching during the camp episode. I went in thinking "ok, we're back to the usual schtick of going to Earth and assasinating humans" only for it to be shallow and uninteresting.

YT annotations were removed for a good reason. If you use an extension to re enable them on fukkireta, the entire screen will be covered with n words and other slurs
I guess but they were still essential for the platform

The actual dark age of animation was when there were only badly animated saturday morning cartoons that only existed to sell toys
We did get a lot of dross, but the animation process itself was definitely worth admiration. For such a resource-consuming process, humans created a lot of animations this way. I do consider the early seasons of The Simpsons to be classics, along with a sparse few others.

Shows like Transformers were particularly egregious because Hasbro killed the main character to sell even more toys. My understanding was that G.I. Joe was going to follow the same route, but Hasbro did a quick edit to backtrack. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was the classic example, since new action figures were pumped out long before they reached the TV screen (if they made it at all).

There is definitely some truth to the idea, since every show existed back then with some kind of merchandising grift attached to it. Of course, the assumption of the argument is that these days are any better. Meaning, cartoons are made for the pure enjoyment of the end product itself, instead of the items and services that can be sold alongside it.

I'd say flintstones started it. It was the moment they realized they could get away with low budget animation

I think of TMNT as a positive example because it was well animated.
In terms of animation, I thought every mainstream cartoon in America in the 80's and 90's had nice art and animation. There were flaws in everything, like bandannas being the wrong color in TMNT, but the amount of effort put into these animations wasn't lost on child me.

I've always had some interest in animation and the animating process, so I found plenty to appreciate with the old style. I had mixed feelings about new-age computer animation of the 2000's. The early seasons of Family Guy had some rough, pixelated moments and sharp transitions (usually for a bit), but I give shows like Full Metal Alchemist a lot of credit for trying to mold 2D and 3D together.
