I have attended another university before, with bad grades and what not. I recently saw a non-degree program in Toronto University where I wish to just upgrade a few of my courses. However, they wanted me to provide information of my previous institution (meaning my grades). Is it possible to pretend I never attended the university, or do I have to do this (which may ultimately affect my acceptance).

If you've attended Canadian university then likely not. Your name, date of birth, and SIN will lead to your previous institution even if you hide. But if it was US or somewhere else then yes.

I'd say don't risk faking it and getting caught, that may hurt more than just UT acceptance.
