Okay, so here's my predicament.
About a month ago, I decided to install the Homebrew Channel and CIOS's onto my vWii, following this guide.
https://gbatemp.net/threads/simple-guide-to-install-cios-on-vwii-backup-nand-and-keys.339890/
At the time, my Wii U had about a month left with its warranty but I figured it was safe at that point.

Now flash forward almost a month later and my Wii U has a week left with its warranty and (as luck would have it), the gamepad starts having connection issues...(loses connection even with a foot away from the console).

I want to try and send it to Nintendo for repair and make the vWii as innocent as possible before shipping it...(hopefully they wont inspect the vWii thoroughly).

The point being. I'm trying to find the best way to remove the CIOS's 249, 250 and 251 while leaving as little foot print as possible. Then I'll uninstall Homebrew channel via the Hack Mii installer.

I'd greatly appreciate some info on the above
I used to know how to do it with a regular Wii but I'm not sure what is safe for vWii standards.

Don't take this as gospel but this is your best method.

1. Run a SysCheck on the system and note versions of each IOS that's loaded, compare with a known unmodified set of IOS.
2. Remove any custom installed WADS (banners, games, homebrew) - suggest even moving all the Nintendo channels to the first page.
3. Remove CIOS 249-251 from the system via your choice of WAD manager. (may need to remove 236 if you installed, or replace 80 if you patched it.)
4. Use your choice of disc exploit to remove HBC.

Do not touch anything below 200 unless you need to replace it. Especially if you want a chance to rehack it again. Don't use IOS' you find on the internet.

Keep in mind there are still traces of HBC in play-logs and such so there's no way to "virginize" it. This is as close as you'll get though.

TBH though, I don't think they'll look that hard. Just don't leave your SD in there when you send it to them.

Thank for the quick reply.
I only have HBC and those three CIOSs

What WAD Manager works well for the Wii U?
Also, those CIOSs were installed with d2x cIOS Installer 2.2 mod, which don't exactly come with a packed WAD for installing (or uninstalling for that matter).

Okay, I just used YetAnotherBlueDumpMod to create a WAD of all the CIOSs I installed (said no to both fakesigning the ticket and TMD).
I'm assuming it is safe to uninstall them now on the NAND using using YAWMM?
Just to be on the safe side, here is a SysCheck of my current setup.

Just got the Wii U back from Nintendo and the repair process went smoothly.
I'll let this be a testament for anyone that's in the same boat I was in.

Honestly,if the homebrew channel and any other custom channel are no longer present, and able to get to vwii, then you should be fine.
At least from people that have sent in the Wii U for repairs.

@BigOnYa If you want to do rgh or 360 mod
  • S @ salazarcosplay:
does it matter if you update your 360 or not before trying is it advisable or not
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Yea I don't pay attention to them really. Or do I try to 100% a game. I just play till story ends/ or I get the girl!

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
You should update the 360 to newest dash before RGHing it yes. But not a big deal if you don't, you can install new dash/avatar updates after. It's just easier to do it auto online before, instead manual offline after.

@BigOnYa I wanted to ask you about your experience with seeing south park. Most of the people a bit younger like my younger brother and cousins that are a few younger than me that saw kids found south park funny because of the curse words, kids at school, that seemed like liking the show on a very basic level.

I could not quite have a in depth discussion of the show.

How was it for you? As an adult. What did you find the most interesting part about it. Did you relate to the parents of the kids and their situations. Was it satires, the commentary on society. The references on celebrities' and pop culture.

I remember seeing the very first episode back in the day, and have watched every episode since. I used to set my VCR to record them even, shows how long ago.
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
I just like any comedies really, and cartoons have always been a favorite of mine. Family guy, American Dad, Futurama, Cleveland Show, Simpsons - I like them all.

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
South Park is great cause they always touch on relavent issues going on today, and make something funny out of it.

  • S @ salazarcosplay:
@BigOnYa were you always up to date on the current events and issues of the time or were there issues that you first found out thru south park
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Most of the time yea I knew, I watch and read the news regularly, but sometimes the Hollywood BS stuff, like concerning actors slip by me. I don't follow most Hollywood BS (example: the Kardasians)

  • S @ salazarcosplay:
@BigOnYa there were relevant issues before south park was made, that's why i think a south park prequel/spinoff would be great. Randy and his friends in their child hood

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Yea, like them running in high school together, getting into stuff, and how they got hitched and had kids. And how the town of South Park was back then compared to now. That would be cool to see.
  • BakerMan @ BakerMan:
    yeah
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@salazarcosplay if they made a prequel, it would still be about current issues, cause it doesn't make sense to make it about stuff that happened 30 years ago that nobody cares about anymore
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    it's too late
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
the older south park episodes about particular issues usually age poorly since the topic is no longer relevant
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
an exception is giant douche vs turd sandwich, that's always relevant :P
