This is strange o-o My speakers are plugged in perfectly, and when I boot up iTunes, I can hear the music just fine... but when I go on the internet to a site (lets say YouTube) I cant hear any sound at all. ive tried turning up the volume in the video as well as in my speakers... tried turning off/on speakers and replugging them... but that doesn't make sense because I can hear my iTunes just fine...

Im using FireFox 3.01 btw. Thanks!

XP, Vista, Mac, or Linux?

if Vista, your "FireFox sound" may be muted. I think it's double click on the sound icon in your system try to get a list of all programs running and their individual sound properties (yes, that is a very cool idea!).

You can turn off sound to IM programs, while leaving system and internet sounds still on. Or the other way around, and mix and match till your hearts content!

Try reinstalling flash and if that doesn't work.

Download and install the K-Lite codec pack, and then run the "Codec Tweak Tool"

Start > Programs > K-Lite Codec Pack > Configuration > Codec Tweak Tool

Then check the box next to [Registry] Fix non-working system sound

It should fix the problem

Okay, did all that, and the only thing I found like that was "Fix broken sound"' but the box was greyed out, and it said "No problem detected" :/

Im gonna try and download Safari to see if that has problems as well...

EDIT: Tested IE7, no dice. ;-; I dont know what it could be then...

hey did you try this section even though you're running on windows xp?

also, it might help to google for a solution or browse other tech savvy forums.

Well if anything weird happens with firefox, I usually just turn off all the addons to see if that fixes my problem. If it goes away, I enable all the addons one by one to find which one is causing it. If it doesn't, I reintall firefox.

Be sure to backup your profile and then delete it from

c:\documents and settings\[usernamehere]\application data\mozilla\Firefox\

or else it'd be pointless to reinstall.

I just finished doing all of those things, and still no luck... But it HAS to be internet related, because my speakers work fine with Foobar and iTunes...

Have you tried updating your sound card? It might be the driver.

Well, it doesn't make sense that its the sound card though... this computer isn't even a year old, and it also doesn't make sense that my iTunes plays fine but my FireFox/IE/Safari web music doesn't work at all.
