Admittedly, it's been a while since I turned on my Xbox, what with all that's been going on with me lately. I had 13146 (the one that required new dvd drive firmware) already. but now I turn on and I find that there's another dashboard update available.

Um, So... anything I should worry about there? Or is it okay to treat it like normal (flash to stock, update, then reflash - LT 1.9 this time) ?

The latest Dashboard update is fine. It just patched the non jtag exploit (Already a work around.), and added new AP 2.5.

Would that require repatching/burning of existing AP 2.5 games? I know that the last one or two dashes did.

I assume this is then the 13599 update (some have called for another update before this month is out).

As long as you are not on a slim then the only thing you have to worry about is you have some new AP2.5 challenges (the usual 6 games) which looks like it will need a new firmware (LT+ 1.91) rather than patches (the new firm is in supposedly in testing already) but you should be able to dodge reburning and just flash it when it drops.

Wait, doesn't older drives also support this? I have a Hitachi 78 with LT+1.1 and I can still play 2.5 games?

Sorry that was a poor choice of phrasing on my part

The slim had some lockdown stuff with the DVD drive but for those on original style 360s there was just a tweak to AP2.5 that appeared that needs a new firmware to work. If you were on an immune hitachi or samsung (or JTAG I guess) then AP2.5 does nothing and as far as people know never will (the reflashing update would have been the perfect time to add it if so).

So, would it be okay to reflash the existing LT+ 1.9 after updating to this one? Granted, I don't play the existing AP2.5 games much anyway...

As far as I know it is safe (as these sort of things get anyway) save for the AP2.5 games. If you want live then update but otherwise there is no real benefit to updating.
