UK Top 40: Uncharted: Golden Abyss claims top spot for Vita

PlayStation Vita launch title Uncharted: Golden Abyss has claimed top spot in the new UK all-format charts.
Another Vita exclusive, FIFA Football, scored second. It's worth noting that sales company Chart-Track does not count digital sales, meaning the games achieved their chart places based on boxed copies alone.

The two games accounted for 50 per cent of the total Vita software sold last week. There were 23 launch titles in total.

PlayStation Vita hardware sales data showed that 79 per cent of buyers chose the Vita's Wi-Fi version. Chart-Track does not publicly disclose sales figures.

EA shooter reboot Syndicate entered the chart in seventh, meanwhile, behind UFC3, FIFA 12, Rayman Origins and Mario & Sonic Olympics 2012.

Wii exclusive role-player The Last Story debuted in 15th place. The latest title from Final Fantasy creator Hironobu Sakaguchi was not stocked at GAME or Gamestation in the UK.

But new Sega tactical shooter Binary Domain fared less well, landing 35th.

Other Vita games managing a place in the top 40 included WipEout 2048 (11th place), Ridge Racer (28th) and Everybody's Golf (32nd). And multi-platform game Rayman Origins shot up from 36th to 5th after the release of its Vita version.

That is great news for Vita.
I ebayed my copy of U:GA yesterday. Great game but it is just a showcase for what Vita can do, it uses every single feature of the Vita, but it is not a game I would play through more than once.
I maybe would have kept it if it had MP but atm I'd rather get most of my money back and pick up Shinibodo 2.

Also shame for Binary Domain, SEGA really suck at marketing, the game is very good and has loads of MP and no one even knows about it.

I brought 3 launch titles for the 3DS, they were decent, nothing too great. 3DS had a shitty launch, but now it's somewhat good.

Yeah, if Skyward Sword was there for launch.. If Mass Effect 2 was there on launch.. If game XX was there on launch... Just had to say.

I like Super Mario 3D Land, but the game was released wayyy after launch. For example, I bought the 3DS during christmas when the Limited Zelda 3DS was released and I knew 3D Land was just waiting to be bought. If the launch titles should be compared, I don't see that much in favor of the 3DS vs DS/DSi compared to the PSV to the PSP. Also do note that I bought a PSP about 5 months ago compared to the DSL from 2008.

ps. Nowadays I play handhelds mostly on moving transports like buses. The 3D effect on the 3DS is unusable when seating on a trembling bus. If someone says otherwise, I'll welcome someone trying the Helsinki area buses after a few months of snow and the likes.. Just works wonders for any kind of portable console. Angry Birds is also a pain
